Almost fell victim to a Scam - ICICI CC

i can't find the thread now. i guess i searched for saphiro and stumbled on it.

anyway in the link i just gave phone no and city and someone called me and asked me to apply normally through icici website. when i checked in website rubyx, coral and coral hpcl was offered ltf remaining was chargeable cards
 
I don't trust my wife or my mom on these topics and I believe in taking cyber security insurance every year - just in case..
About 15L cover from hdfc for whole family for ~4k inr every year!

detailing my experience below

I got a call from Priyanka Sharma (don't know if it's real name) (919220422307) claiming to be part of icici bank credit card team. and asked me about my recent card which i had applied. since i had actually applied for one i didn't doubt her. she was asking genuine questions like was there any issue with delivery or have i faced any issues so far. so far good.

then when i was about to end the call she said on further checking my profile since i applied for the card during some offer period i have some points worth 6k inactive and said she was going to help me activate them. since somehere i saw rubyx card had 6500 worth benfits i belived her.

she asked me to visit my imobile app and go to card section and asked me to enable all tx limits ATM withdrawal, POS, tap to pay and online and set to max (should have set alarm bells here)....... then she asked if my points were visible. when i said no she said since i'm a new customer (which i am not already have amazon card) i have to fill a form.

she then asked me to visit cppdeactive.com when i visited it was some icici website about card protection plan. then she asked me to click on login. suddenly an apk was trying to be downloaded. when i asked her about it she said since we need more info normal forms were not enough so an apk was needed. this set of alarm bells. i started to stall by saying i am at office and will do later when i reach home. she was then claiming it was a on call process and if i don't complete my points would expire. i said "in that case no worries i have a important work call to attend i will check later if applicable". now suddenly she was asking at what time my office ends when i asked her to call after 9pm she was claiming bank hours are only till 6pm. i asked her to call me tommorow in that case.

i called my RM and asked what is the offer regarding cppdeactive. He straight away asked did any money get debited or have i provided any otp or card details. when i said no he said i was lucky and it's a fraud attempt and please ignore.

my contention is since they know it's a fraud why didnt they send out a email bringing awareness on this.

This is definitely insider information leaked. Never contact bank outside email.

Whenever I receive a call like this then I ask them to share information from bank domain email on my registered email first.

wouldn't they just create a exact replica using different email id

I tried lodging a complaint in cyber crime portal but whenever i submit everything goes blank so i just gave up

You don’t have a true caller installed?? I normally don’t pickup call if it spam on Samsung s22 and Truecaller say spam. And never ever have a conversation with unknown person regarding after delivery that doesn’t happen in credit card. Once delivery email for activation and sms is common even WhatsApp.

true caller i generally don't prefer. i too have s22 and my spam protection was in-active because of below issue.

also since you also have the green line issue any update after your visit to service center.

my phone is slowly becoming unusable now it's restarting often. have factory reset 3 times so far. still restarting... so turned of all extra services.

Oh shit so I’m not the only one who s22 is pure piece of shit in terms of of performance. Mine doesn’t need to restart often cause it lag from time to time. Even I have factory reset twice/thrice same performance issue.
