Can Amex cards be used for tax payment? Does any gateway on income tax portal support it?

If it's supported then is Amex Travel Platinum milestones gets counted for government transaction including tax payment?

If I am not wrong, Amex gives 1MR for each ₹50 spent, and it's 24k karat is ₹9k for 24000 MR, so effectively on tax payments, amex would give 0.75% (9k/12L) and if we consider the monthly milestone then too the reward rate wouldn't go above 1.25%, also payment gateway charges would be around 1-1.5%, so which benefits am I missing here?

People usually don't use MR points as a cashback. They transfer it in 1:1 ratio in Marriott Bonvoy and use it for hotel bookings. There you get Rs. 0.5 to Rs. 0.8 per point. There are times when Amex runs an offer of bonus 30% while converting MR points to Marriott Bonvoy points. So you get even more value then.
