Amex Gold Charge Retention Offer March 2025 - Discussion

Hi

My gold charge card completed one year and been charged 4500 + tax charges as annual charges
Usage - only 6kx1 in last one year
Points around 65k

I call cc and ask for retention offer

Option Given
1) Pay Half Charges and other charges waived
2) Spend 1 Lac in next 90 days
3) Close the Card (need suggestion to use points)
4) Apply for new card (option ruled out due to no new applications)

Pls suggest

Sorry for hijacking the thread but I would like to inform

I got 5k bonus points on my gold card (1st renewal). The 100% fee is waived off due to spend based offer.

Fee waived off on 2 or 3rd week of Jan.

Bonus points credited on 2nd April

Of course you would get charged but dep3nds how fast tou want to complete it if not u can use it else where like 5 star hotels or malls where they accept cards also on fuels all I said was if u can't find sp3nds wise where u xan do wallet fill too

They only gave only one offer "spend 1L in 90 days".. So closed the card.. As only usage on the card was 6k on Multiplier monthly.. And now with the charges and small denomination of apay.. It wasn't worth the time with full fees..

Called today again to check if card is closed.. They said not yet as it will processed on 9th April as I'd some payment due, which I was to pay after the call..
Again retention team asked reason and all.. And this time was offered 50% waiver an alternative.. Which I accepted.. So will keep at for a year to get 19.2k MR..

Now AGV or ASV denomination is 5K or 10K only. Where do you plan to use the card? My main usage was 6K AGV per month.

It is one month before - meaning exactly one month before the month the annual fee is added to the bill. Annual fee is added in the bill cycle month which is immediately after your renewal date.
Suppose your billing cycle is 1-30 of every month , bill is generated on 1st of every month. Now lets say your renewal date is 20april. So your fees will be added in bill generated on 1st may. Calculate 1 month before 1may, its 1st of April. From 1st of April you will have access to all renewal offers when you call the customer care

Cool thanks for the info, so if my renewal is 26 may, 26 april is the ideal time to reach out, correct?

I also mentioned about the bill cycle date in my post, if you clearly read and understood it. Anyway you can directly reach out to amex cc, they will tell u if you got any renewal offers or in case you don't , they will tell you the date when to call out to them for renewal offers. So just call them and confirm.

Btw, it is never 15 days or 5days as someone mentioned here

billing cycle is also starts from 26 so yeah, got your point.
