Devaluation Amex Gyftr going to add 0.75% fee on Amazon Pay vouchers from Feb 1st

Effective 1 February 2025, a 0.75% convenience fee + GST will be charged on the purchase of Amazon Pay and Amazon Shopping gift vouchers via e-voucher platform on Reward Multiplier.

Amex has also joined the bandwagon of charging convenience fee on Amazon vouchers. Firstly there is shortage of high denomination Amazon pay vouchers and now this. Received this mail for Plat travel card.

0.75% convenience fee for the least convenient vouchers considering you can only buy in multiples of 250. What a joke.

Yeah, that is my worry, first it starts slow and suddenly we will be looking at 3%+ charges.

Not sure why everyone is adding processing fee to Amazon vouchers. Is it Amazon restricting its vouchers or banks cutting the losses. Amazon anyhow charges the merchants MDR for accepting Amazon Pay, so there is no incentive for them to restrict it but on other hand now we cannot combine Amazon Pay vouchers and other payment modes, that is also a devaluation.

Look at how cleverly they're informing about this. The mail subject is Get 3x points, as if we don't know about it and then they mention this fee. Sad.

So for every 1000 transaction & 1500 done on gc and mrcc, will attract 0.75% fee. 10 times 0.75% fee😒

Actually this charge is applied from amazon side. Not by amex. That's why the charge is only for Amazon not for others.
