fees will be waived as already spend condition is met.. now i still want to close the card .. they should offer me something like no sir pls dont close the card u are a valuable customer blah blah.My dude, do you even know what retention benefit means?
Why all that dramabaazi.fees will be waived as already spend condition is met.. now i still want to close the card .. they should offer me something like no sir pls dont close the card u are a valuable customer blah blah.
To get free MR points. Why all that dramabaazi.
If you want to close it, ask them to close.
If you want to retain it, do not call them.
As far as my experience goes with amex, you can ask them simply to give you some bonus MR points if they do it's well and good and if they dont still it's good but don't place a closure request and demand for MR points.fees will be waived as already spend condition is met.. now i still want to close the card .. they should offer me something like no sir pls dont close the card u are a valuable customer blah blah.

PS: I don't have any amex cards 🤣
That means what I've heard and read in the TF community (experience of other people)In first line you said - as far as your experience with amex
In last line you said - don't have any amex cards
Just thinking how🤔😎
I called Amex to check for any waivers or retention for my MRCC card as I'm not able to use it much because of acceptability issues and having other Amex Plat travel that i use at places where Amex is accepted.I called Amex to close my Gold Charge Card and MRCC, as I planned to shift my spending to the Platinum Travel Credit Card. However, Amex offered to waive the MRCC fee and reduce the Gold Card fee by 50%, along with waiving the GST. I decided to keep both cards.
Why don't you try to spend 20k more to get 50% waiver atleast.I called Amex to check for any waivers or retention for my MRCC card as I'm not able to use it much because of acceptability issues and having other Amex Plat travel that i use at places where Amex is accepted.
Annual fee will be charged on 2 March. I was told that they can review the charges only after it is levied. (For Plat Travel, they review the waiver one month before renewal - basis my experience)
Not preferring to close the card as it was sourced under referral with 1500/750 fees clause, which is no more provided now. Current spends 70K+ in current anniversary year.
Anyone having any experience/suggestions on what options can they provide? Can I be offered @GGGGGG 's offer? .
I had also spent less than 90k. Renewal fee was charged last month of Rs. 1.5k. Called customer care and asked what could be done about fee. CS waived off 75% of the fee. Within few days got refund of Rs 1125 + pro rated gst.I called Amex to check for any waivers or retention for my MRCC card as I'm not able to use it much because of acceptability issues and having other Amex Plat travel that i use at places where Amex is accepted.

Yeah, I was thinking to do the same..... so that it is minimal, even if they dont provide any offers..... But looking at the other comment by @am11 , I'll target to spend 20K and then negotiate. Thanks @sousnake , @am11Why don't you try to spend 20k more to get 50% waiver atleast.
Then you can negotiate for better deal or keep it at 750.
@SonyTom : I was given two options -Any updates? Were you able to reduce annual fee to under 750
Can you post a screenshot of the spend based offer you got. Then maybe someone can helpHi Folks, i had a typical issue. I need help. On Jan 10, I got a spend offer on my MRCC card. I spent around 40k till Feb 2025. Yesterday I upgraded to AMEX Platinum travels. The card is yet to be delivered. If I spend balance 10k using my MRCC card, today, will I get the spend offer? AMEX customer care says the spend offer was on MRCC not Plat travels. They cant say.
