In the month of November I had reported an issue to Amex stating the milestone rewards progress bar of my Amex platinum travel credit card is stuck, and does not show any progress. I was under the impression that it is just a display issue, and won't impact the rewards getting credited to the account. They assured me the technical team is working on it, and were unable to fix this issue till February.

Fast forward to February, I completed my 1.9L milestone and the 7500 MR points were not credited. So I reached out to AMEX to credit a total of 15000 MR points, which was denied my amex stating, "only if the 7.5k MR points is credited, we will be able to credit the pending 7.5k MR pooints".
I argued, stating if you guys have this shady process of forcing customers to reach out to support for adding points manually, which results in some user being unaware of the same, profiting AMEX; then you guys can credit 15k points too within the defined SLA. I was denied, and there was no response after escalating it to Customer Service head of AMEX.

I had a planned trip in the month of march, which required additional MR points to claim the Taj vouchers, and 10k Taj voucher on 4L completion.

As there was no satisfactory response, I reached out to RBI Ombudsman in the early week of march, and immediately the next day my issue was resolved. Then the next day I also completed my 4L milestone, and now today another 25,000 MR points + 10k taj voucher has been delivered.

In case if anyone of you are facing this issue, please escalate it and get your hard earned reward points. Their support team is taking people for granted impacting people who plan to close their card or to utilise their points as per their planned vacation.

Do note that not everyone is impacted by this issue.

This is a rare experience....I have had the best experience with Amex care (and the best awareness level of CC officers amongst all banks - basis my personal experience). Your case also shows Amex acts even faster when escalated to RBIO.
Good to know that your issue was resolved without much troubles 🙂
