SMS alerts from Amex wont be received for following, effective 6 July:

• Payment reminder alerts
• Account balance updates
• Approaching your Card limit alerts
• Spend tracking alerts

However alerts on Amex app will be continued.

Not surprising.

They had stopped it in March 2021. I had got them a notice from banking ombudsman in April 2021 that they are not delivering SMS alerts. In my case, AmEx was not delivering transaction alert SMSs too. AmEx fabricated literally nonsense as their official response to the notice. RBI suggested me to take it to the court.

And then RBI banned AmEx in May 2021 Chopped their wings to make them realize they are not above the law

I doubt it's about saving movey, more like making sure people over spend/ miss the dates, that's the main business model of credit cards at the end of the day.
