Apple Photos vs Google Photos

I have been using Google Photos since the past many many years and also use family sharing with Google One plan.

Within the family, we are all on Apple (iPhones, iPad, Homepod) and thus, we are also hooked on to Apple one.

In order to save costs, I am thinking to discard Google One and shift my 200 GB of photos to Apple One...

Do you think it will be a good decision (I love the face search, google albums, auto creation of shared kids pics across family, etc, etc)..I don't want to miss these features and I hope they will be available on Apple photos too!

Pl advice!

Update:
I just learnt that in Apple photos, there is no option to create a shared album where pics of specified persons (e.g. kids / family / friends) are automatically added!
I use this a lot to auto share kids pics between the family members - any family member can click and it gets auto added in the shared album...

This is a deal breaker for me! Google Photos works flawlessly well!

Face detection and ease of management are better on Google at the moment.

I use both, but for purely photos, I would suggest Google Photos.

Face detection in Apple isn't as good.
Sharing isn't as good.
UI isn't that great.

Also, I believe Google One was cheaper yearly compared to the Apple's iCloud plan.

I am stuck between all the three services iCloud, Google one and onedrive
Started with android so I used 200GB plan shared with family. Can’t close this one since they don’t want to take the effort to remove all the photos and move to OneDrive.
Got iPhone so moved to iCloud, again got 200gb plan just backup the iPhone and recent pictures
Got the family M365 subscription for about 1600 yearly with sharing with family of 6 with 1tb each.
Use this as a cold store for all the pictures and documents.
If I could remove Google one I would since it is expected with ios18 AI stuff should get at least at par with Google.

Moving from Google photos to Apple photos is simple - use Google Takeout for photos!

At this point if you ask me i'd prefer neither of them. I have tried both and recently ended my Google one subscription. I'm only keeping i cloud+ due to email aliases for my dad. I personally use a next cloud with 8tb solid state storage now and trained my dad to use it.

Me who keeps his 6 year old pixel 2XL still alive and keeps backing up photos from it for free... 🌚

My wife had Pixel 3 before she shifted to iPhone.. surprisingly, her pics still don't count towards the family storage and gets uploaded at original quality (even with her iPhone)!

Sorry, even new photos uploaded from her iphone via Google photos uploaded at original quality don't count against storage?

I am on google one and like it very much … although overall I am iOS user with all iphones ipads and macs

Google is miles ahead in terms of experience. I have no storage plan on iOS … took it for one month and then ended it.

Continue using google one and chuck iOS, may be till Apple becomes better than google sometime in future

I tried google takeout.
But most of my photos are converted to .json which i am unable to understand how and why....
And how to read that json photos

What happens if hard disc crashes for some reason?

Recently my 2TB scandisk SSD crashed... it got replaced within 5 year warranty, but crashed. Luckily had all the photos backed up over cloud
