I received my AMEX card today. And it was possible purely because of BestBanker.
I am self-employed. And many banks tend to avoid giving credit cards to self-employed people. Not long ago I did not even have an income proof, but now I have ITR acknowledgement at least. To make matters worse, my main organization is not even in India, we just have a payroll company in India that just handles our payments.
I had heard of appreciation of BestBanker, but I did not think I would qualify, so I did not ping him. He saw one of my comments and was very kind to message me first. After that we had some more chats on WhatsApp, he asked my ITR 3 and my official mail and my payroll company address in India. Then a different AMEX employee mailed me, I filled the application (an AMEX link with some sort of referral ID at the end was sent to me over mail). I filled the application on Saturday and the card (AMEX MRCC) was approved on Monday. No income documents were required. I received the physical card on Wednesday (today).
That being said, I also wanted to mention some other security related points. In this forum we have many agents. Some are verified, some are not. But we still have to keep in mind that we are talking to strangers and take some safeguards. (Yes I am a bit paranoid because I have seen a massive scam.)
- Check the domains from where you are getting mails. (in my case it was from aexp.com which is trusted)
- Do not open links directly. Copy them, paste them in browser URL bar and inspect the link. Make sure there are no @ characters or other suspicious characters in the URL.
- You can also check the website registration date / created on date on https://who.is/ or https://lookup.icann.org/en if it seems sketchy. Legitimate websites will not be created in short notice. For example americanexpress.com was created in 1995. Do not trust https websites blindly.
Again thanks to BestBanker for all the help to me and many other people.
