While you use Swiggy Dineout, Zomato dining/district, eazydiner or magicpin (PM for referral in each) to get discounts -some (or most) restaurants are keen to take payments directly to their accounts, at the discounted rate.

If you have a HSBC Live+ Credit Card or Kotak Super 811 Debit Card can get 10% or 5% cashback by swiping their POS on top of whatever discount you get on any of these apps.

For best rates, apply for LTF EazyDiner Platinum Card and use it on eazydiner to get the best discounts for restaurants available on it, compared to Swiggy Dineout or Zomato district. Then pay the restaurant directly.

A few restaurants started keeping two menus. They ask you for the payment method when you enter. If you mention Dineout/Zoamto, etc. They give menus with prices 40-50% higher than the normal rate 😆🤪😜
City?

I've never seen that happen, if they asked me my payment mode upon entering I would just leave the restaurant anyways

Many cities.

Even we have a whole thread here on this topic,

They definitely ask about your reservation - and while rare, I have been to a couple of restaurants where I'd see a different menu for reservations via apps vs walk-ins.

What do you generally say to them to do that?
Step 1: When they ask for reservation, I say none. It also entails no browsing the phone while entering or asking about offers, plus dressing decently.

To top it off, I would say that a friend recommended me and told me it would be empty now. Because those in-app reservations mean nothing - you still have to wait in a queue with the promise of being served on the same part of the day.

That is how I avoid getting the "Premium" menu.

Step 2: While asking for cash, UPI or card during bill, always ask for card. Meanwhile compute the final amount post app discount and credit card discount. Then when they come with the machine, say that you had found a better offer on EazyDiner. Either they offer to match it from their end or you initiate by saying you're okay paying it directly to them.

If you do not do the above, chances are the restaurant might only bring out UPI saying their POS machine 's "server is down" in a bid to save MDR.

I hate how this makes dining out, the process of de-stressing yourself, enjoying and having a good time into a mission filled with stress.

Remember it is a tough world, restaurants need to make money while we need to save some. Needless to say, you tip the waiter some or all of what you saved in cash. Also, the tough part only comes at the end for a few minutes. The first part is indeed enjoying yourself without asking for offers or looking into your phone. Cheers!

so basically do reserve but never mention it hmmm

Also btw about the app reservation meaning nothing, if you really want a reservation in any restaurant go through infinia concierge
There are times when I've personally called up a restaurant and they say they don't do reservations or it's crowded but when concierge calls them up they happily save a table with the reserved signage on table

Might be exceptions. Most restaurants allow direct reservations. Some busy ones accept a cover charge (higher than the apps btw) while others may ask for a business card. This only happens on special days like Valentine's day, Diwali night, New Year's Eve etc. or if the restaurant prides on limited seating/serving.

In Delhi/Gurgaon it seems every weekend is a special day for popular restaurants, there's at least 30 minutes waiting on most and they stop accepting phone reservations that's when concierge comes in handy
