I just received my New Atlas Credit Card. What I can see in my application is
5 Edge Miles per Rs 100 on Travel and 1 Edge Mile per Rs 100 on other spends??

Why is it showing this? Is Atlas Devalued?

Same here. Recently received atlas and it shows 1 edge mile/100, but i think I am getting 2 edge miles.

By the way anyone aware of the validity of edge miles, was not able to find the same.

assume 3 years like all other cards but axis also shows expiring miles in its edge portal so when the time comes you would be able to check.

2 edge miles on 100 translates to 4% return (with some exclusions) but when Magnus Burgundy starts to give 5:4 ratio possibly after 15 September, then Magnus Burgundy will get you 4.8%

No. Don't assume the validity of EDGE Miles as 3 Yrs like any other Axis Bank Credit Cards.
Validity of EDGE Miles is 1 Yr only for Axis ATLAS CC. I've confirmed, re-confirmed and re-re-confirmed on 3 occassions from their priority customer care.

What it means to say is that you get 5 edge miles if you book airline or hotel it takes as travel. Another regular spends like grocery utility or food orders online offline itnis 1 edgehill per 100 spent.

I have looked into this miles game after ordering Atlas and it does not seem to worth the time or efforts for me. The return in miles is highly devalued.

My conclusion is that if I want to consider miles game as a hobby and want to experience luxury flight or hotel experience, its good.

Since I am not in to luxury travel much right now and prefer more authentic local homestay style experience and low cost airlines, miles are not best returns for me.

Instead a combination of cashback (SBI cashback), PE tickets (SBI Vistara Prime), smartbuy points (HDFC Infinia / DCB) and GV (RBL World Safari) can give me better returns.

I guess I would have tried the miles game also if I was getting insane returns like previously on Magnus, but now I dont see the point.

The whole Atlas MCC situation is concerning. I swiped 84K with Golconda Resort, ideally, it should have been categorised as a hotel, but it wasn't and was taken as a restaurant general spend.

This bifurcation of a restaurant or hotel is not going to work for me. I have another Banquet hall booking next month with Hyatt and I am concerned that it might go as a restaurant as well. With this information in light - the Atlas card is becoming much less interesting and valuable to me. I think I might just go Burgundy + Magnus way.

At the end of it - Atlas does seem like a concerning card. Even then 4% return is still one of the best in market.

This is a big loss for you!
You should have booked it and paid 84000 through Traveledge to be guaranteed the 10% return

It was a direct swipe - can't go TE way. I will have these direct swipes quite a few times a year - totalling up to 5L - 8L.

I'll wait for the Magnus+Burgundy fiasco to clear up and then take a call. In the meantime, guess 4% is the best I can do for these expenses. I'll stick to it and see if I get lucky with MCC categorisation with Atlas. This is really absurd of Atlas. They must extend the same benefit from hotel MCC to restaurant MCC as well.

If it is only hotel room booking then it is unlikely that Atlas will be able to stand up against aggregators.

Yes, I get 35% discount on hotel rooms with Kotak card

where can i see the expiry date or the 1 year date or the issue of the card date where i can assess the 1 year time frame?

I think when card issuers mention "hotels and airlines MCC codes" they usually mean the big groups and chains who have their own MCCs. For example 3509 is Marriott and 3026 is Emirates. The general hotels MCC 7011 might also be eligible but many resorts and hotels will have multiple POS machines assigned to several different MCCs like hotel and lodging, restaurant, bar, etc. and these might be being used anywhere within the property.

SBI Vistara prime (2% + milestone flight tickets) or IDFC Vistara (3%+ milestone flight tickets) offer much better returns then 4% of Atlas if you don't mind Vistara CV + Domestic flight tickets.

Yeah, it was my mistake not to understand that Axis expects us to check the swipe machine and MCC code of the hotel before swiping the Atlas card.

Maybe for some of us laymen, they should target providing this across hotels and restaurants or list out the hotel which falls under their "approved" list. Golconda Resort is a big resort and hotel in Hyderabad with rooms falling in the 10K range.
