Thread '1% Extra on Utility & Fuel for Using AU Small Finance Bank Credit Card After Certain Limit | AU Credit Cards Devalued'

First, IDFC First Bank, then Yes Bank & HDFC Bank, and now AU Small Finance Bank have also joined the party. Now, AU Bank credit card holders have to pay 1% extra fees for making payments towards fuel and utility after crossing a certain spend limit on each category effective from 15th August 2024.

I already predicted this at the beginning—all banks will follow this practice, it's just a matter of time. Maybe a few banks will exclude their topmost credit card from this rule, but all banks will follow this for sure.

50k per month cap is not devaluation on personal cards that too for fuel and utilities. Why would a normal household have 50k per month fuel and utility bills.?

Credit cards meant to use single household and on personal spends only, putting limits is way better than removing them altogether.

Those who have genuine spends, this not even concern, IMO.

This actually devalution those who have <30k limit, in that case only 15k usable for utilities and fuel. But again, no reward points in AU for these categories, no benefit on using without these changes also.

Why would any individual need to spend more than 50,000/- on fuel each month ?

If it is only for personal use, he must be so well off that he should not mind even 5% as surcharge. Why crib on 1% ?

Stop using personal CCs for business use or for commercial purposes.

That's the message from them.

Not about freedom or independence. But, being truthful n clean.

As per the bank internal policy customer can initiate a single transaction of amount INR 5000/- or within that and cumulative transactions of INR 20,000/- on wallet MCC: 6540 within a day.
