Axis Bank Credit Card Fraud | Wrong Credit Card Mapped to My Profile | - Discussion

Hi All,

I am having 2 axis bank credit cards and from yesterday all of a sudden a new card which doesn’t belong to me got added to my account in axis mobile app and Internet banking. I have raised a complaint with customer care and pno and their initial response was this card is mapped to your pan only. And this fraud card is not new and existing from 2023 it seems. Clearly this is some technical glitch or fraud from axis bank side because name displayed on this fraud card is not mine and none of my credit bureau reports have this card. Attached screenshot from mobile app and clearly it can be seen that name is different.
Can anyone suggest what actions i can take to get rid of this card ?

If the credit card is mapped to your pan card then tell them to cancel it immediately!

If its not reported in your cibil nor doesn't have your name on the card then its mostly a glitch. Check how old is that card, if its more than 2 months then you should be good. Bank report to credit bureau in atleast 60 days, and it is mapped to pan.

Name in the pan and details must match before getting a card. Since you have already reported it to the bank, you don't need to be afraid. Keep the email copy for rbi complaint if this didn't get fixed in a month and don't pay their bill (obviously).

There was a similar issue with icici before, showing others cards.

As per customer care of axis this card is active from October 2023. Since the bill was generated my fear is will this gonna take a hit on my credit scores

From your first post, it seems to me that you have already gotten an unsatisfactory response:

An unsatisfactory response from the highest grievance authority or no resolution in 30 days is enough to be able to file an Ombudsman complaint with RBI. You have already complained to PNO. Not sure if they have accepted the error on their part and working to rectify it. If they are working to resolve it, then just wait for 30 days from the date of first written complaint. No need to send any reminders to Axis. Post that on 31st day, file an Ombudsman complaint with RBI.

And if they are not working to resolve it, then file an Ombudsman complaint with RBI today and ask for compensation too. This is an opportunity to earn some compensation from Axis as the bill is generated in your name. Asking someone to pay for something which they have not even availed is a harassment.

Don't pay the bill, btw.

PNO has not yet accepted the error on their part and all they say is they will get back within 10 working days. So should i wait till these 10 working Days and even after that if they don’t accept their error raise a complaint with RBI ombudsman?

So, do one thing. Look for an email where the PNO has only mentioned that "it's not an error on their part" or something on the similar lines. Exclude the email (do not upload to RBIO complaint) where the PNO is asking for 10 working days. Because I believe that they are asking for 10 days as you might be asking them to look more into it.

Use the email where PNO has denied the error and file the RBIO complaint.

Thank you will try that and how much compensation can I seek in the complaint ?

PNO is useless.

Write directly to MD Desk. Make sure that you provide proper details and attach response of Axis PNO on your email. Also, inform that in case if there is no resolution within 30 days from the date of registration of original grievance, you will file the same to RBI. They will take up your matter on priority.

Thanks will write to this MD desk

It is around 15.5k
Ask for 50k as compensation. Do mention this bill amount in the complaint and add the proof of bill preferably the email.
Also, in the complaint, you could ask for another 50k as compensation for mental harassment.

By complaining to RBIO, you could be sure that you would get the resolution for sure. It's not about the compensation, it's about the priority that your case will get. Compensation is just the byproduct. You may get it, you may not. But a complete resolution is assured.
I would suggest to proceed to RBIO instead of MD desk. Also, MD desk is not the "advertised" redressal mechanism by Axis, so a customer is not bound to follow that route. Rest is your decision.

Maximum compensation is mentioned for every category of complaint when you make a complaint in RBI Ombudsman. Just choose the maximum amount.

It is around 15.5k

Ask 15.5k, then.

You don't have to ask for compensation to Axis directly. For compensation, go via RBI Ombudsman. However, RBI Ombudsman requires the complaint is at least 30 days old with one escalation matrix is contacted at least once during the 30 days window (for the satisfactory resolution). It doesn't matter whom you contact (nodal, MD, CEO) for escalation.

My guess is that once you escalate, the issue will be resolved soon. If it takes more than 30 days, you are eligible for compensation (irrespective of the amount).

Also, as someone else mentioned block the card temporarily for a faster resolution. You can not block it permanently as it meant cancellation of card that in turn requires you to pay the bill in full. Do not pay the bill in this case, as it doesn't even have your name in it.

I have got a cibil hit from axis bank never applied for credit card, i raised dispute with bank and they said i submitted documents and hence its valid, but I never submitted anything nor even bothered to apply for a card because i already have 3cards with me. As of now i am fighting with bank. Will inform

That's not how things work. Escalation team is there for a reason. No need to write to MD directly. OP should go through proper escalation. That will also help him building up the case and help him in RBIO. If PNO doesn't listen, then go directly to RBIO. As it is the the last ladder of Axis CC.
