Axis Reserve add-on card annoyance

I have been holding the Axis Reserve card for a couple of months and last month I tried to apply for an add-on card for my brother.
As recommended, I approached my branch. BM said he will get it done, he only needs an approval. Well many weeks later, I get the response that if the add-on applicant already is a primary Axis Bank cardholder, he has to cancel his existing card before he can be issued the add-on card! Actually, this had been mentioned earlier by my RM but I thought BM can override this.
Did anyone have a different experience and succeeded in getting an add-on card despite the above? Please share.

I am not sure about axis but in hdfc I use this simple procedure.

Visit the credit card section of the bank website. Download the addon application form. Fill it. Attach required documents. I think that a photo, xerox of your credit card, pan and adhaar of the addon member is all you need.

Post the filled form to the designated address.

That should do it. No need to involve any RM. I got addon cards from hdfc and sbi for my wife and children using this method.

Thanks. Axis has its own weird ways. By the way, did your wife already have any primary cards when you applied for an add-on card for her? Wanted to know if other banks also follow this policy of not giving add-on cards if the add-on applicant already has a primary card from the same bank in their name.

IDFC follows this policy : https://www.technofino.in/community...addon-credit-card-request-gets-rejected.2256/

No,

She did not have any primary card as of then. By the way, as per my understanding of other banks addon cards, they share the limits of the primary card holder and even cibil scores of the addon holders must not matter. Addon cards may be said to be a copy of the primary card which some other family member can also carry.

The only other way would be to apply another standalone primary card in the name of your brother and if they don't allow, then raise a fight with them saying that if you are not giving her addon, then issue a primary one for him.

I don't think that you can apply addon card for your brother or sister. You can only apply for add-on cards for your children, spouse, or your parents. Same as in the case of insurance and immovable property. As your brother cannot have insurable interest (technical term here but google will explain the meaning in a much better fashion) in you. Hope you get the point. Or maybe I am wrong? 🤔

Best option - Apply for standalone primary card for him.

Regards,

What you said is correct that it's best that he applies for a standalone card. No point getting more and more stressed! I'm more interested in getting my renewal benefit Tata Cliq voucher for Magnus first (another long maha yuddha with Axis😀)
Just FYI, till now, they have not said there's any problem with giving an add-on card to a brother/sister.
I no longer have an Amex Platinum Charge card but a couple of years when I had it, they issued an add-on card for my brother no questions asked (he didn't have any Amex primary card so don't know about that).

I recently got my Axis Reserve card. Plan to apply for add-on cards for family. Does anyone have a clue if Axis will issue add-on card for minor? I would like to get it for my 14 year old son besides for my wife.

AFAIK, no card companies issue credit card or add on card to minors.

I don’t think that’s correct. Found this on HDFC site though don’t have first hand experience of a minor’s add on with HDFC.
They do give to children but the minimum age of your child should be 18. I asked and got this confirmed with HDFC Bank.

However, they will give debit card for child account in your kids name itself. So I got debit card for my kid.
