Never heard in India.
I know it happens in developed countries where violation points affects your insurance rating for 3-5 years depending if it’s minor or a major violation. Insurance companies run MVR (motor vehicle record) to fetch this info periodically.


What’s the source of this info?

On a similar note. In India, does it happen where if we have more challan, then the insurance premium will be high for the next year or something like that?

problem is that is insurance is tied to vehicle only. traffic violation can be tied to either DL or vehicle, but in most practial cases they will issue violation against vehicle only

That was a one time thing. Besides they increased all the fines by at least 2-3x compared to pre-covid.
