I too want to know that. I want to work.
I just feel bank jobs are mostly sales agent jobs that's why I usually avoid.
Incase anyone has any idea on which role in bank is not sales related please let me know.
In my 32 years of two banking jobs, I NEVER worked in sales side. I have specialised in Techno/Hardware Products and WAN/Networking area. NEVER EVER SOLD any banking/MF/insurance/Card product to any customer. From joining as a PO to taking VRS as AGM (IT Systems), I never ever canvassed for any banking product.
This shows, how big and complex and varied banking sector jobs are. Forex, Rural Credit, Industrial Credit, General Banking, Administration, HR, Training, Audit and Inspection, Product Development, Technology, Remmittances, Interbank settlements...... you lose count on the various huge Departments in big banks.
So, if you are serious, do consider this sector as well. It may not be as rewarding - salary wise - but will be forever challenging. No two days are alike. And, no two situations are alike. That again depends on what you are looking for and how well you gravitate to that chosen field/sector. All the best.
In my opinion, try to avoid Private sector banks - which run mostly on sales-targets-per person basis. I did not join IndusInd, Axis (then known as UTI Bank) and later (after VRS) a couple of others like TamilNadu Mercantile and South Indian and Federal.
