I am facing a really weird issue with my credit reports.
I had taken an education loan under the WBSCC scheme a few years back (4% simple interest seemed like a really good offer then). The bank allotted was a local cooperative bank: Burdwan Central Cooperative Bank Ltd.
Everything seemed good; I paid all EMIs on time every month. The problem started when I thought of getting a credit card.
On checking my CIBIL, the bank had reported wrong DPD (Days Past Due) for almost all of the last three years, sometimes putting nonsensical numbers like 800 for the past month. (How can it be greater than 31 if I'm checking it on the first day of the next month?)
I immediately checked other bureaus: Experian and CRIF, and the same problem was there.
Well, I made a complaint to the bank's grievance cell, and within 30 days they updated CIBIL but not the other bureaus. So I filed a complaint with the RBI Ombudsman (that is ongoing).
After a few days, the bank fixed DPD of one month (only) in Experian, and then strangely, afterwards reported a completely made-up number in the Amount Overdue section for CIBIL, Experian, and CRIF. (should be 0 as all EMIs are paid.)
Now, this thing happens again and again: I make a complaint, the bank fixes just one month's DPD, and messes up something else!! Even things that were previously corrected in CIBIL were incorrectly reported again. Bank grievance cell doesn't reply to my emails either.
Meanwhile, the RBI Ombudsman complaint doesn't show any sign of progress. I am completely lost on what should I do... Any advice on the next steps to get this permanently fixed?
