Amex Plat Travel card. Absolute no brainer. A spend milestone based card
- Fee is 5,000 + 900(taxes) for first year and second year onwards as well
- 10,000 Membership Rewards Points on joining, 4,000 extra Membership Rewards Points on joining through referral, link below
- 40,000 points + ₹10,000 Taj voucher on ₹4L spend
- 15,000 points on ₹1.9L spend (if 4 not achievable)
- All spends covered in milestone reward including general card exclusions categories of fuel, insurance and utilities
- Normal Membership Reward not applicable on general exclusions: fuel, insurance, utilities
- American express Membership Reward never expires as long as card is active, can stack up long term as well without any forced redemptions
- Marriott Bonvoy offers best redemption value of ₹0.8 per MR point easily, could be much higher, especially in international redemptions
Simple strategy, spend 4L and stack up 48,000 Membership Rewards Points. 40,000 milestone bonus points and 8,000 normal points which could be increased up to 24,000 using reward multiplier.

As usual, it'll depend on requirement. The MRCC is a decent card if you get it on referral as otherwise the charges aren't just worth it. You have to be able to spend online more, as the card is effectively an online only one outside Gurugram! The recent Reward Multiplier has brought further difficulties for Amex users, so unless you travel a lot, and if you really want an Amex card, it still have to be MRCC.
Amex Plat Travel (APT) is undoubtedly the best Amex credit card for annual spends of Rs 4 Lakh. Especially for all those domains where other credit cards offer neither any Reward Points (RPs) nor any milestone benefits - like fuel, utilities, income tax, etc. Even though APT also does not offer any RPs on these spends, but that is more than generously offset by the bonus Membership Reward (MR) Points as spends on these domains count towards the annual milestones of Rs 1.9 Lakh and Rs 4 Lakh thereby generating bonus MR Points.
Online acceptance is stupendous - just the diametrically opposite of offline acceptance, which tends to gravitate towards horrendous.
Nevertheless, APT remains the King of cards for annual spends up to Rs 4 Lakh.

In terms of value, how much do we have to pay net for the first year of APT? I am planning to take it by using someone's referral
Yes. I completed the 1st Milestone of Rs 1.9L spends this week itself. Got half the MR points credited automatically. Balance points were credited with just one call to the customer care. Smooth as ever. No problems faced.
They have taken request and credited MR points immediately. Refer below screenshots
