  • HDFC : Milestone benefits only ✅
  • HSBC Cashback: 0% ✅
  • AMEX Gold Charge: 1 MR/50 + Milestone benefits ✅
  • AMEX SmartEarn/ MRCC: Milestone benefits only ✅
  • AU Zenith: Milestone benefits only ✅
  • AU Zenith+: 1% + Milestone benefits ✅
  • ICICI APay: 1% ✅
  • SC Smart: 2% ✅
  • SC Ultimate: 2% (Govt. transaction)
Note: Mostly other cards from same bank works with varied reward rate and similar rule of exclusion.

Tip: IDFC, IndusInd, BOB provides better rewards using payzapp like prepaid card load (MCC: wallet) which you can use to pay NPS compared to direct payment where you'll get from 0.25% to 0.8% only on these cards.

For NPS payments MCC: 9399 (Govt. Services)

Do check both payment gateways Razorpay and Billdesk (above values are according to Billdesk gateway).

Also, do share missing cards rewards that you tried, will update accordingly.

PG Charges (with GST) on NPS website/app:
  • VISA, Mastercard & AMEX = 0.885% (0.75% + GST)
Note: Above are for TIER 1. TIER 2 disabled credit card payments (based on latest available options).

If in doubt, always try test transaction and confirm with support. Things may chage any time, proceed with caution.

I have Diners Black, IDFC Wealth, Amazon Pay, CITI Rewards.

Which card gives reward points? Diners Black, I checked with customer care and they said for government transactions, no reward points. Does NPS come under government transactions?

Can I go with IDFC Wealth, which will give 1.5% to 2.5% as my transaction will be INR 50,000.

Per 100:
  • HDFC DCB = milestone benefits (>80k)?
  • Axis Magnus = 1.2% (5% if >1L)
  • Amex MRCC = Milestone rewards (4x1500, 20K) only ✅
  • Amex Gold Charge = Milestone rewards (6x1000) only ✅
  • Bob Eterna = 0.375% ✅
  • Sbi Vistara Prime = 2 CV
  • Sbi cashback = 1% ✅
  • Indusind Pinnacle/Legend = 0.5%-1.8% (depends on luck)
  • Ace = 2% ✅
  • Ultimate = 3.33% ✅
  • Millennia/AmazonPay = 1% ✅
  • Onecard = 1% (2 more categories needed in that calendar month) ✅
  • IDFC Wealth/HSBC Cashback = 1.5%
Note: AMEX considering it as Utilities, so no regular MR points only Milestone points. Didn't got any MR points (0 credited for 504.45) but will receive milestone rewards.

As per the information received from AMEX support, "For milestone related points, they will consider total spend amount (on any category)".

NPS Charges (with GST):
  • VISA & Mastercard = 0.89%
  • AMEX = 1.05%
  • Rupay = (let me know).
✅ - Confirmed
Hello, could you please tell why have you mentioned Magnus reward rate as 1.2%?

I have the following cards:
1. Magnus
2. HDFC DCB
3. SC Ultimate

Basis your list I am tempted to go with SC Ultimate. But still curious why only 1.2% for Magnus? Do we get both base as well as milestone benefits for Magnus?

Just regular voucher redemption. 1EP = 0.2p. min. reward. nothing special if you redeem for airmiles 4.8%+++++.

If you get base rewards means milestone automatically will get, but mentioned where only milestone benefits without base.
Understood, thanks. I redeem for airmiles so was always under the impression that rate would be in the range of 4%+

Nothing can beat Amex MRCC on that, try breaking the amount into 8 parts and pay 4 parts this month and next 4 parts in the next month to get additional 2000 MR points (1000 per month, cycle from 1st to last day of each month). Also ensure that each transaction is of min 1500 rs and try to spend over 20K each month to get additional 1000 MR points, In that case 4000 MR points can be earned which if in statement cash redeemed comes to be around Rs 1200, out of which transaction charges is aroung 435, and you will be saving more than 750 rs, which is 1.5% . Also amex sometimes runs campaign of additional MR points if threshold spents are reached.
Nor go for SC ultimate.

but you won't get normal points now on MRCC for nps transactions.
