Best Credit Cards for International Transactions

Though India is way beyond in the Credit card game and variants but we can notice a great community is being build revolving it and the growth is great in terms of new credit card consumers in past 5-6 years. From insanely popular cashback cards to the cards for nerds, the airmiles cards, we can see a lot of variation. There are specific set of users who are like me who do a big portion of their total spends on International transitions, this thread is specially for them.

The forex markup varies between 0 - 3.5%. But hey, as the Zero markup straightaway seems to save a lot of bucks, but sometimes it's not "the best" option, which I'll discuss. Please do note, that many Debit cards also do come with 0% markup, but you do miss the extra layer of security which comes along with credit cards.

So that's all as of now. Feel free to give your input. This list will keep changing depending on the new card or changed features of the cards.

Magnus Burgundy for LTF and no NRV condition?? Are you joking ? :ROFLMAO:
Nope, not joking. The card is not worth paying 35400 in fees and on top of that 10L in SB. Magnus 4 Burgundy costs around 1 lakh in annual fees including lost interest/returns from keeping 10L idle in SB. You will have to spend around 20 lakhs just to recoup the annual fees you paid. You will start earning on the card only after that. Not to mention that even after paying so much this card offers nearly nothing else in terms of benefits. Not even BMS or M&G or renewal benefits. It is at best a Rs.15000 card maybe.

Not worth paying 35K Vs getting it totally for free are completely different points. M4B was given complimentary until last year, and still its good value for those who can actually maintain 10L in savings.

The biggest disadvantage of M4B is the cap on transfer of points. Even if you spend significant sums, you can receive maximum 80k miles in group A airline programs. That’s pretty useless for a long haul flight, forget about a return or flying with family.

The cap is actually the biggest advantage of Olympus. Even with a lower earn rate, you can receive a max of 600k miles.

Olympus is rendered nearly useless (for me) with all the huge list of exclusions. One wouldn't expect exclusion of utility and transport for a 20k card. Rent and wallet are fine. Rest all could've done with decent capping. But then again it's too much to expect of Axis to design a sensible product. They are like the monkeys of Madagascar building the airplane.

Thats very good.
Utilities and transport cannot be a large amount even for an affluent customer. So if someone is putting through lacs in these categories, they are just gaming the system and its very good that Axis is blocking such customers. Makes a devaluation even less likely in the short term. Another plus for Olympus!
