I’m sorry but i forgot to mention about Apple Watch E Sim, Airtel & vi won’t let us use their ESim in Apple watch unless its a postpaid connection! This is wrong.
While I can't talk about issuance, but Prepaid SIM can also be had as e-SIM. I converted physical sim to esim. More than a year ago.
I use local sim generally just for Data. Haven't hit an issue so far but you never know.I have ESIM Airtel n a physical Jio in slot 1. Since many years. Travelled extensively in Europe (14 countries) n USA, besides UK. I use only 1 phone - always Google Pixel (then 4a5g, 6a n now 9Pro) - with over 120 Apps.
In almost all trips, whenever I tried to change ANY combination - physical SIM or eSIM - many Apps stopped n require a device authentication - which may or may not happen.
Carry a simple blank phone n use it for housing any local SIM. You mainly use a local SIM for incoming calls n SMS from friends n relatives - n not for doing trxns. Right ?
I am seriously confused why they have to make everything so complicatedAnd, REMEMBER, Airtel ESIM can not be activated when device is changed when you are outside India. It can be done ONLY in India.
Because, when you are abroad, you are NOT connected to or controlled by Airtel but by their local partner abroad (at&t or verizon or mint or....... when in USA, for example).I am seriously confused why they have to make everything so complicated
Strange it didn't work for me - I am on jio family plansimple solution for jio users at least - login to my jio app , add or update alternate number (anyone close or family members), update or add email id , next time login via alternate method and get issued esim instantly only downside is sms blocked for 24 hours , no hassle for aadhar biometric
BTW thanks for suggestions regarding eSim usage and precautions
