After BOB devalued all of its cards. Has anyone considered applying for a different bank's card?

Would it be worthwhile considering? With the online discounts and rewards points offered by BOB.

In the year 2024, BOB has established a significant presence online, establishing partnerships with prominent eComm brands such as Flipkart, Amazon, Myntra, BigBasket, Zomato, Swiggy, Zepto, Jiomart, and numerous others.

bob never good card for spends, it is devalued 2022 itself when they released first devaluation.

but, not getting your question.. different bank card always there and better options, what exactly are you looking?

AFAIK, among leading banks, I think HDFC is the only one that doesn't devalue too much. All others are brutally devaluing time to time.
Then there are these small banks like DBS, HSBC, and some PSU banks like Canara, PNB etc. which still have some valuable cards, but their process and tech both are cumbersome. Very difficult to get through in to the system, track reward points etc. Many times, points and cashbacks are not credited on time and we need to follow up.

I'm holding the following cards as of now. Was planning to close some of them, but just kept it back.
  • ICICI Amazon Pay, Sapphiro
  • HDFC Swiggy, Neu Infinity
  • Federal Celesta
  • IDFC First Wealth
  • HSBC Platinum
  • Indusind Tiger
Most of my spends (primary cards) are HDFC Swiggy, Neu Infinity, and ICICI Amazon Pay to an extend.
Some times, I am using other cards for instant discounts on platforms like BMS, Swiggy or so.

Bank accounts are with SBI (primary) and HSBC (salary).

My main priority for cards or banking relations are
  • less interventions by RMs,
  • no physical interactions and branch visits,
  • accounts opening & closures and other transactions online,
  • overall less headaches.

I am confused between :

1. Canara Bank Rupay Select / World Master Card
2. HSBC Live
3. Federal Celesta
4. SBI Elite or Prime

First, having access to a lounge is important for me as I travel frequently. Second, instant discount offers on travel bookings and other ecomm websites are crucial factors that I typically consider prior to applying for any credit card.

for accurate, check this and answer as much as possible (even for yourself)

TL;DR;

Given 4 cards only HSBC Live+ useful, remaining nothing there to offer. But its primarly for grocery and dining, not for ecomm websites or travel bookings.

Atlas might work because it provides lounge, travel booking offers, ecomm websites but that needs atleast 5L spends (which I'm not sure whether you can achieve or not because nowhere you mentioned).

There are many cards for travel bookings or ecomm, for ex: SBI Cashback best and 5%, nowhere eterna matches these cards. Eterna gone long back, till now it survived for lounge and Jan 1st onwards that will also gone.

l always consider applying for a card who offers good value irrespective of different banks.
As far as your question to consider bob cards or not, then l should say yes it is always worthwhile to consider them because cards/bank to be judged on multiple parameters. Devaluing one/two parameters not devalue the whole repo of the bank. People always consider them for various online offers.
If you see your email, then you will find that online discounts and offers offered by BOB are still comparable to many huge private sector banks.

I've got plenty of lounge access with my current portfolio even after recent devaluation so i really need another lounge card at the moment,

The reason i went after Eterna was twofold,
Firstly being i anticipate certain cards from my portfolio might get devalued in near future and its good to have a back up for lounge access
And secondly i need a all round Visa card in portfolio right now, all my current Visa card reward rate are abysmal,

And for some reason i thought PSU cards were immune to devaluation(because govt bsnks don't care about profit margin and majority are low rewarding to begin with)

But recent events have proved me wrong (first rupay puts spend criteria for its DEL T3 lounge and now BOB has put spend criteria on all its cards)

While i still think ₹40k/Qtr is quite manageable for unlimited lounges,
I'm not gonna run behind it anytime soon

For this post, yes, I also see a lot of these online platforms where BOB is having a good instant discount.
To make use of that I might get a BOB card, but not necessarily Eterna. Even a BOB Premier would do.
I will go for an LTF BOB card, because it will be only used occasionally for some instant discount offer and just for that I don't want a paid card.

Go for hsbc live plus. Apart from grocery you get good instant discounts on ecomm platforms like 20% off on myntra offer running right now.
