Buying Pattern for Offline Shopping Vouchers

Hi All,

I think it would be interesting to know the buying pattern/preference of offline shopping vouchers of different people. What I mean is, how does one determine which vouchers to buy and when - say Shoppers Stop/Pantaloons/Lifestyle/M&S/Reliance Retail etc. etc. For example, would you buy only when you are going on a planned shopping trip or when there's some offer running with a particular brand? Would you choose a brand based on the value its vouchers are providing or after you have finished going around in stores and buy the voucher of the store whose products you liked on that particular shopping day? Do you stock up on vouchers of particular brands or buy at the last moment, after you have decided the purchase and the store?

As for me, it is always going to a mall, nudge the family towards the store which may be running the best offers and voucher value at that time, but priority is always what we want to buy rather than the best value voucher, once the final purchase is decided, whichever store it is from, with whatever value of vouchers being offered, we end up buying from there. Due to this, many times, we end up buying at stores that do not have any vouchers available on Gyftr/AMEX Reward Multiplier. Don't have ay HDFC Cards so can't comment on Smartbuy. Would be good to know how some of the other community members go about it - guess it is like striking a balance between maximising value and what you eventually end up liking (and how well the family goes along with the maximising value objective 😅 )

Like you said...priority is what we want to buy.
So we always decide what to buy and from which store( lifestyle or shoppers stop or pantaloons or whatever). Check paytm or Amazon to buy the voucher ( closest value) and pay.
Mostly it fetches 7-8% at least and this way you don't spoil the shopping for family members.

Two tips -
1. Don't buy voucher of total amount at one go. Keep last 1 or 2 k as separate vouchers since there can be last minute additions or deletions :D..leftover vouchers can be used in next trip.
2. You would like to buy vouchers 10-15 mins in advance as sometimes delivery takes some time. Hence approximation..remaining amount can be paid by card directly.
