Can insurance company reject claim if both keys are not available.

Cars
Hi,
So recently I bought a used car and I only got 1 smart key with it. I was told by dealer that the previous owner damaged it and doesn't have it anymore.
Now I got the car insured with zero depreciation insurance and someone told me that companies reject the insurance if both keys are not available.
Now I've contacted the service centre and my local centre told me it'll cost 24k as both will have to be replaced.
A centre in nearby city told me single can be provided and will cost 12.5k.

Now I will eventually have to get the key as a single one won't suffice, but for now I want to know if having a single key would have any issues?
I've asked the insurance company and they've told me to get a written letter from previous owner that it was damaged and keep it with me, and share with them.
When I asked that post that there won't be any issues? I was told that having both keys isn't a rule but mostly asked in claims and if I do the above, I can atleast tell that I had shared this info with them.

Can anyone please tell me if this is the right way forward?

Thanks a lot.

They can easily reject in case of theft.

Nope never. I won't suggest at all.

Replace the lock or get the new key from authorised dealer only with bill receipt. For 12/24k, u are gambling, with world war 3 :hehe:

Right now having a bit budget constraint. And never heard of any car Theft at my place, for now should I just give them the written letter by previous owner and in a few months get another key from dealership and inform them?
As in my old car I used to forget where I kept my keys and many times used spare so although the high cost, I'd need to get it anyways.

Someone told me that they own a ford and they charged him only 5k for it's smart key (new single key, and removal of lost one from car's system)
Hyundai charges north of double.

Will it be ok? And I wasn't aware that thus key is this expensive (I used to think 4-5k max) should I get insurance for it too starting next insurance?

Yeah, atleast do this right now.

While renewing insurance, didn't u got option for key replacement add-on cover??

I did, thought it wasn't important as I wasn't aware of it's cost, only got zero dep and engine protect.
I talked to the insurer today and they told me the 2nd key wouldn't have been covered anyway as I didn't have it.
Lol, why would they even know if the previous owner had just one key? Don’t be overly truthful with the world. Shape the facts and situation according to your need. Insurance companies won’t stand by you even if you’re 100% honest. Just make sure not to give false details about the car’s specs or accident history, and you’ll be fine.

You just had to give a written complaint to nearest PS about lost key, they will give a acknowledgement, inform insurance company and ur claim passed.

If that's the case, shouldn't I just use one key for now and get insurance next year and tell them I lost it?

The second key would be needed for self usage only, the area I live in is safe and I am planning to get a guarded parking for it as well.

Now we are talking.
Yes, get key cover next year from acko insurance or anything that's cheap and reliable.
After a few months raise a claim for lost key and get the lock and key replaced.
Cool so I guess it'll be an insurance fraud but these guys defraud others too so who cares?
You sure they won't ask for proof that I have both the keys?
I can manage for an year

Yes, there are countless stories. We can’t even imagine how much these insurance companies exploit genuine and needy people.

Yeah, no proof as such. Just a copy of police complaint!!

Ok understood, my current insurance is less than a week old, any way to get it cancelled and renewed with other add ons?
And I am sure that my car is safe where I live and other people also park their cars on roads and it's alright, so if cancelling the insurance isn't possible should I use a single key for this year and get it insured and replaced next year?
NCB loss will be wayy lower than the loss if I buy key on my own.
In case of normal claim (ie accidental damage) insurance company dont even ask for keys.
Ok so in case during this year in case I need to make a normal claim I am safe.

And acko isn't available here and I'll prefer not to get the same insurer (Zuno) next year as they'll know I don't have keys, so other insurers work?
In my city hyundai isn't cashless, only some local garages are and I don't think they can get me a key.

I always buy insurance directly from my dealership. Why? Because in case of a claim, I don’t have to worry about anything... they handle the entire process. All I do is drop off my car, and when it’s ready, I simply pick it up after paying the processing fee (around ₹1,000).

Yes, dealership insurance may cost a bit extra... usually ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 more compared to online quotes, but in my experience, it’s worth every penny for the peace of mind and hassle-free service.

And when it comes to customer service, that’s exactly why I’ve stuck with Hyundai cars.

Yupp, since u are confident don't worry. But pls avoid these mistakes from next time. Just spend some time, and read few forums like Team BHP or reddit, and decide.

Yupp, it's better to change insurer next year for this key claim things..

I did get a quote from them too and it was approximately 75% higher so I thought of getting it through policybazaar.

Yes I will, although I am planning to keep this car for the next 8-9 years as my usage is pretty low and get a new one at that time, but learning something is never bad.

Yes I'll get insurance from someone else then.

And current key looks good and works normally, these are durable right? Unless I submerge it in water it'll be alright in a big of rain in my pocket?
I only use it to open the trunk else I don't even take it out of my pocket.
