I recently applied for Canara Rupay Select CC for fun (and to get the spa vouchers) and was yesterday approved for the same with 20,00,000 limit 🤯. I have never heard of any PSU giving 20 lacs limit on any of their CC, not even SBI Aurum (my aurum limit is 5 lacs 🤭)
So I applied for the card by visiting the branch and manually filling the form. The agent asked me how much limit I want and I was like isn't it provided by the bank after underwriting. Then I understood that he was asking how much limit he should propose. I said 8-10 lacs cuz I knew that it will eventually be decided by the CC team after review (as same happened in case of IOB. Branch proposed 10 lacs limit for me but I was eventually offered 4 lacs). But he looked at my other card limits and he said that he should put 20 lacs. I was like put 50, how does it matter if I won't even be given 5 😂 but then he said no he will get it approved. Man I don't know how Canara works - whether they are underwriting locally at the branch level or what but yesterday I got the message that my card is approved with 20 lacs limit (this is the highest limit card in my portfolio).
Surprisingly, I don't even have that good a relationship with Canara - just an old savings account with around 50-60K AYB. And the agent didn't even have any other expectations from me like open your family's account with us or take any loan etc. Maybe he was godsend.
