Can't add Sapphiro to GPay

I almost exclusively use the Tap and Pay on GPay rather than carrying my card around. ICICI Rubyx Master Card works flawlessly, but I recently got upgraded to Sapphiro, and Sapphiro doesn't work with GPay for some reason.

I tried escalating this with customer support, but the kind of stupid replies I received made me give up.

Anybody else face such random tech issues on their "premium" cards?

If you recently got it then wait for some time for them to update on the backend. I have added sapphiro & it works fine.

Yes, but only for Bharat QR codes.

I got the card 5-6 months back. Just tried again, doesn't work.

Customer care is depressingly pathetic. I tried saying this same thing 3 different ways in 3 different emails, and they don't even read what you say. They just randomly send one of their canned replies.

Not sure but the reason for this could be your credit card is "mastercard" variant. If your card is "mastercard" then you can request for "visa" variant and it should work.

I definitely should have mentioned before, but my Sapphiro is on Visa.
