Can't make use of Diners Black, suggest a new card please.

Hi,

I gave been using Diners Black as my primary ( and only) card for the last few years. However frequent devaluations, Amazon vouchers being taxed and very poor international acceptance are making the card pretty useless.

I typically spend around 35k-40k ob my card each month. My usage is almost equally split between online (Amazon /Swiggy/ bigbasket), Eating and drinking out, and Fuel ( so around 10k each per month on those).

Above this, i generally fly home twice a year, so thats 2 domestic tickets ( say around 20k) in year.

I make 1 international trip a year, that costs around (so 3-3.5 lacs, and haven't been able to use diners black at all)

I pay 50k rent a month, but HDFC started charging extra from this year on rental payments.. So I stopped using my card and just bank transfer..

My current DCB limit is 11lacs, but they won't upgrade me to Infinia because the spends are not over 7.5lacs( which is thier fault, if diners was accepted on international trips and most booking sites, I would have easily made the spend cutoff)

So in net

Monthly spends on Online / Grocery / Fuel eating =4 lacs
Rent =6 lacs
Flights and international hotels =4 lacs

My wife has a magnus already.

Any card you guys think I can apply for to better utilise my spends to gain points more benefits?

Whatever is the highest reward rate works for me.. I know cashback will be the but if having rewards points for booking flights like DCB has is better, those cards work for me as well

Thanks in advance 🙂

One option - perhaps not the best one - is to ask HDFC for a second Visa card. They would split your credit limit across the DCB and (possibly) a Regalia card (5L + 6L). Between the two, you could ensure that all spends go on a HDFC card. Down the road, write to them asking about an Infinia upgrade (because of poor acceptance of DCB). There is also the small but finite possibility that they offer an upgrade on the Regalia itself. This will mean living with relatively poorer reward rates for six months though...

An optimised spend would probably involve using multiple cards.

You can look at vistara card from axis/sbi - they would give you good returns which can be redeemed on your flight expenditure.

You can also look at amex platinum travel - upto 4L a year it gives around 7-8% returns

7.5 lakhs in 6 months is the criteria by which the card recommendation by Bank uses to send the Infinia Invite. Other option could be an FD greater than 10 lakhs for a few month post which you will get the Infinia invite.

Are you certain about the FD criteria? Because I'm holding Classic Account now as there is not much practical benefit of upgrading to Preferred or Imperia Banking to me.

What if someone limit>=10 lakhs on DCB but haven't spent 7.5 lakhs in 6 months. Will he get infinia?

They are very specific on spend criteria. Neither ITR nor total family NRV matters. only other option is to have an FD>10-12 lakhs for a few months post which you get an invite in offers section.

If I do a FD of 10L+, do I need anything else to get Infinia? I recently got moneyback+ and was told that it will soon be upgraded to Regalia. Can I go Moneyback to Infinia or should I first wait to get Regalia?

No on anything else.

You can go direct as the current card does not matter. They will be giving you a secured card, either separately or upgraded.

I have got Infinia invite twice. I have avg 20K spend per month on regalia
Current limit is 10L

Not sure, what criteria is there to send invite but in my case 7.5L spend in 6 month has not been done

I didn’t accept infinia as my usage is low

Accept Infinia 😅, you'll earn better for the same spends. Moreover you'll be paying only GST counterpart and can redeem points equivalent to the fees paid. Infinia any day better than Regalia.
