Car Payment via Credit Card Suggestions - Query & Discussion

My wife and I are planning to buy a car in range of ~15Lakhs and we are checking if we can optimize the spend using our CC.

We have following cards:

• Infinia Metal (Paid but already close to 7-8L spend this year so have will most likely hit fee waiver)
• Airtel Axis - Paid
• HSBC Live+ - Paid
• Amazon Pay ICICI - LTF
• Sapphiro - LTF
• IDFC Wealth - LTF
• Wife has Regalia Gold - LTF
• Applied for ICICI EPM - hopefully its approved in next week
• Pre approved Axis Atlas - can apply for it on website if it helps with optimization

While most of my spends are on Infinia & its already near its fee waiver spends, was wondering if I should go for any other paid card that can help boost the car purchase?
Considering most dealers will charge 1-1.5% - the effective returns will be around 1-2% on infinia probably be more on some other cards?
Would be helpful if you can suggest best cards or approach for car purchase

While you have done the MDR negotiation part, there is not much to discuss there.

I suggest as you are pre approved for Axis Atlas, grab it. You can use that card, sweet spot would be 7.5L for attaining Gold Tier which will unlock the best case for Atlas card. For car purchases any day Milestones card swipes are best. Balance amount you can either chose Regalia Gold for hitting milestones or use EPM which is gonna approve next week, that will also help in Annual spend milestone.

Well the MDR part is still pending as we are yet to finalize on the car. Also, I dont want to drop the CC bomb on them before hand but I am hoping i can get it around 1.5%. Let's see.

Dealers usually tend to give MDR discounts during Festive sales or year end targets in December or due to distressed inventory clearance. Try to negotiate with them, it will work for 0%-1% for Amex cards also. You have to be lucky and the sales guy has to have the opportunity.

Fast moving cards like Creta, Hycross, some Mahindra & Tata cars these days are on waiting, so they might come with 1-1.5%. So it's all depends on the negotiation and how you tackle it.

You can try getting Magnus for Burgundy.
I am also doing the same. Currently in negotiation with the Bank to give it as LTF.

I didn't suggest M4B because it takes time to get Burgundy status and approvals and it might hamper his purchasing plans. If M4B was there with him there was not brainer to chose that card.

2-3 Swipes within the range would be awesome deal.

I have my salary account with Axis and had already been holding funds there for around 9 months—well over the M4B requirement. I approached the BM to ask if I could get the card LTF. He asked me to increase the funding, said he’ll try his best, and asked for a month’s time. He also mentioned that if he can't get it done, I’m free to close all my accounts. Honestly, I’m not too confident he’ll manage it—but if he fails, it’s his loss.

God bless your BM 🤣. You put him under pressure. If your account is burgundy, then you should ask your Burgundy RM. Or try to talk to a Burgundy RM.

Actually the window is closed for M4B, but heard some cases offline who are able to get it but not sure every BM can make it.
