As others mentioned, normal for now. Avoid the travel for the next few days, unless it is a quick or short stay and if it is really necessary. A big no for entertainment trip or for a longer stay.

Ideally should avoid Chennai in December. I'm avoiding office for the month citing the same reason. Jan - Feb should be good and the relatively cool season for Chennai.
