I am closing LTF Tata Neu Plus Card to get HDFC Bank core card. I have some queries....

1. After closing the card, will my neu coins expire or should i use neu coins before closing the card?

2. After raising card closure request, how much time should I wait to apply for core card?

3. Which card may i get LTF on C2C basis? I have ICICI coral with 4.5 Lakh limit & AU Card with 6 Lakh limit. Mostly i do online shopping on Flipkart & Amazon. Which card will be better for me?

Solution
  1. Closing card shouldn't affect neucoins
  2. 0-90d
  3. Regalia/millennia
Alternatively you can ask hdfc to upgrade to core card - they'll upgrade to core card easily depending on your negotiation skill
HDFC Swiggy to Millenia New
  • I FINALLY DID IT!

Finally converted HDFC Swiggy to HDFC core card -> Millenia.

I have 3 HDFC co branded cards, received in order:
    Tata Neu Infinity LTF
    Marriott
    Swiggy LTF

Every time I would try and apply for a core card from HDFC website would get the message "you have recently got a card".

I was ready to get rid of Swiggy as never use it and have been writing on and off to grievance redressal for about a year to upgrade it to a core card, but would always get a response that it is not possible to convert cobranded to core.

This time I started from the bottom up in July, wrote to credit card support, they said the same. Forwarded email to grievance redressal and they said I am not eligible for upgrade. Replied and asked to consider on exceptional basis, they asked for income docs. Shared via email and they finally said they can do it as an exception and asked for my consent. Shared my consent and today I can see Millenia Mastercard in My Cards. This process takes a long time as grievance redressal takes about 10+ days for each response. Expecting card delivery in a few days. Received Millenia as FYF.

So it is very much possible to upgrade a cobranded card to core, but it does take a lot of effort and patience.

This is my first serious entry into HDFC and plan is to upgrade to Regalia Gold and eventually Infinia over the coming 12-18 months. I am a heavy Axis (Atlas+Magnus) and Amex (trifecta) user but plan to split spends slowly into HDFC to upgrade to Infinia eventually.

TLDR: Upgrading from HDFC cobranded to core is possible, but takes time and patience.
