Closing newly received credit card

Few days back, my dad applied for a new debit card but we recieved a credit card instead. I believe it is Axis MyZone credit card. However he has no use of it. We have not even opened the letter packaging. How can we cancel it ?

Don't activate it. It will be cancelled automatically after 30 days.

Do not activate the card...it will be auto cancelled if not activated within 30 days of card geneeration.....

Its new RBI Guideline....

But I am curious as to how did this happen. It’s not like lifebuoy nahi tha toh dettol de dia. Both are completely different products.
