Create second HDFC account for Pre-Approved offers?

TF Buzz
Hi, I hold an Imperia account with HDFC and 3 co-branded credit cards.

HDFC IOCL (16 months)
HDFC PAYTM (5 months)
TATA NEU (2 months)

All of these cards share a limit of 25,000/-. I have spoken with the PNO 3 times and they are not going to increase card limits or change it to any core card. I am a student and do not have any ITR.
I regularly use of 30% of my limit every time and have a 780+ Cibil.

What would be the best plan of action for me to get a credit card with a higher limit ?

Close all 3 credit cards and wait 6 months for new offers ?
Create another HDFC Bank account with another mobile number and wait for offers on that account ?

Please guide me, this bank is incredibly unpredictable when it comes to cc le and offers.

Close all and wait.

If you open another account, it will be under the same customer I'd ,so no use of that.

Try to convert oldest or most used card to a core card even the lowest possible one to keep your credit account alive. Close rest.

Ask your rm to change your profile To self employed with decent income. It is internal profile , nothing to do with IT. Use your debit card, upi , to show transactions.
Try to get a sizeable monthly credit around month end/beginning from someone not linked to your account. And pay them back from other account.
And wait for March 15.

Okay, so what you're saying is ask RM to change profile and get an inward transfer to my account which is sizeable on a specific date of every month ?

My most used card is my most recent one. Paytm and TATA card I use a lot, IOCL is useless and I haven't spent a single rupee through it in months. Which one should I try to convert to core ?

No do not change to self employed, else you will only vet business card offers.
Here's what to do:-

1. Close all hdfc cards
2. Maintain good balance in your account (atleast 5x of mab if possible)
3. Increase your income range from profile section in netbanking( keep it as student, no worries)
4. Make good dc spends like shopping, swiggy, etc
5. If you have any other cc like amex/axis/sbi with good limit, you may apply card via branch on c2c basis. By this method you will get ltf cc, but do not panic if you get low variant card🤣

You will again get offers within 6 months, and will offer a basic card. Do not take that, wait untill you see a offer for atleast millenia. And if wanted as ltf, then wait a little more even after millenia card appears.

DM if you want any further help🙂

Yes. The system might see it as salary credit. But do it till march only. You would get pre approved offer. After you card application is accepted. STOP.

Try to convert the paytm one. Its doubtful how much has been updated in tata neu card. With paytm one, by March at least 6 months of record would be available in cibil.

I think you are linked to your parents account and that's how you got your imperia account. Even if in this case account becomes 0 mab, try to maintain at least min amb. ( higher is better. ).
If you get pre-approved offer, choose highest variant card. The default CL they would give to Regalia gold / dcp will be more than millenia's which would be more than moneyback's .

That only happens for Regalia vs business regalia . Right? Or with other cards too?
What do you mean by regalia vs buss regalia? If you will declare self employed you will get offers for cards like business moneyback, biz grow, buss regalia etc
Very less chances of getting normal card

Is that case? Then how self employed people are getting millennia/neu/dcb?

My intention is not to give anyone wrong info. But I have seen self employed people with these cards. Only thing is even when they apply for normal regalia , they get business regalia. So I thought it doesn't happen with other variants.

Most of them have declared themselves as salaried in netbanking profile, or apply offline, get bm/rm approvals, etc.
The system generates the business card offers. There's difference between card offers and applying manually
And see, you well know they purposely give business cards to self employed individuals🤷

Huh, do you have an Imperia account through family banking, right? You mentioned that you're a student file an ITR, and Deposit money into the account, which makes filing ITR necessary because you would need to pay taxes. Keep it that way for 3-4 years and see the magic. (this you shoudln't do for some cc)You will get a good credit limit because you missed an important thing, bro. You won't see a credit card with a higher limit because expenses for a student shouldn't exceed 25-50k. So, no matter if you close hdfc credit cards,or take some ABC bank, the credit limit issued will be low.

Go out there and live your life, bro, because you will be earning soon, maybe in months, who knows? Then take care of all this stuff. It's great that you're aware

Okay I will do this, bottom line is close all cards correct ? I will increase my income in profile and make all spends from account

Okay see, since I have an Imperia relationship through family banking, I have the cluster head and BM details. Can I negotiate my relationship and get special approval through them ?

Please guide me how to do this if possible.

Sadly no, I don't file returns. Yes, the Imperia relationship is through family banking.

Your advise actually makes sense, waiting 3-4 years and catching the big fish is also a good idea. Too young to be concerned about this lol

Naah, they will ask for investments specifically on your name. As you're student, don't get so much involved into these. Just close all cards, and spend via dc. Do not care about CCs. Just have a good individual relationship with bank, and after some time you will get offers. Just be patient.

Okay, I will follow suite and keep you updated. Thanks !

I had MB+ & Tata Neu+ with 50K limit and recently closed both of these with a hope for Millennia. I have closed my current account and having a regular account only in Preferred programme. Should I open SavingsMax account in a different branch for pre-approved new offers? As I noticed that HDFC triggers pre-approved offers to new accounts very fast compared to old accounts.
