Hi guys,

Please suggest me a credit card for buying amazon gift vouchers for paying utility bills and insurance after the recent devaluation. I used buy using amex mrcc but gyftr added convenience fees.

I'm having the below cards.

1. Amex MRCC - paid
2. Hdfc siwggy - LTF
3. Hdfc tata neu infinity - LTF
4. Hdfc regalia rupay - LTF
5. AXIS MYZONE & flipkart - both LTF
6. Apay icici - LTF
7. Hsbc Live+ - paid
8. Au LIT - LTF
9. IDFC Wealth- LTF

Use swiggy hdfc and Directly buy amazon gift card from amazon. You will get 5%. Or use apay in ishop. You can also use infinity and buy gift card from tata gift card section, but 5-7% as nue coins.

Swiggy card not working from amazon. It gives the mcc 5947 which only gives 1% cb but not 5% cb. I did a test transaction with tata infinity card. Need to wait till the month end to find out if it gives 5% or not

AFAIK Amazon Gift Vouchers and Amazon Pay Vouchers are different. With an APV your wallet get loaded and you can make purchases on Amazon as well as other payments through Amazon Pay. With an AGV you can only make Amazon Purchases.

I have been using swiggy card for 2-3 months now. I still get 5% and use it to pay utility bills.

Did you do it recently? I'm getting the MCC as 5947 which doesnt give 5% cb. Can you please double check and confirm if got 5%? Also, can you please drop an email to CC and ask for the MCC just to be sure if its 5399 or 5947?

There are Amazon Shopping Vouchers and Amazon Pay Vouchers. Smartbuy limit for both is 10k each. Shopping Vouchers can be used only on Amazon, while Amazon Pay Vouchers are added to Apay eallet

You can still use the AMEX MRCC for your bills. Of course, you won’t earn MR points for this, but it will count toward the ₹1,500 × 4 and 20k monthly milestone.

For insurance, AMEX MRCC, TNI, or Amazon Pay work fine.

For more details....

I believe those are called as Amazon shopping vouchers.

But it makes more sense to get the amazon gift vouchers, if you want pay the bills using Apay directly from Amazon as you get atleast 1X points for the purchase instead of 2X via reward multiplier given the additional fees

I can confirm I'm getting 5%. Because i mostly use this card on amazon or flipkart, nowhere else. Atleast in last statement, i have recieved 5% for apay gift vouchers i purchased.

I don't want to mail and then ruin what I'm getting now. 😅

I have been getting cashback since i got this card (8 months old). It was working for me till last statement atleast. I can't say it's still works now.

Maybe they have changed the MCC this month. Did you purchase any amazon gift card this month? And when is your statement generation date?

Step 1: Take SBI Cashback Card.
Its not LTF and I already have HSBC Live + card with the same fees and gives 10% cb on groceries, food delivery and restaurants irrespective of offline and online spends. The only way i can SBI CB card is by closing AMEX, but AMEX gives milestone benefits on fuel, utility and Govt transactions with only 1.5L spending for waiver compared to 2L for SBI CB card.

Use Amex MRCC at Park Plus app for buying Amazon pay voucher. You will get regular points for this transaction i.e. 1 Amex Point for every Rs 50. Hope this will solve your problem. Mark your post as solved if you feel so
