Hello Community Members,

Recently on May 4, 2024 I received an email from DBS Bank for a Pre-Approved DBS Spark Credit Card without any joining fees, essentially making the offer a first year free card.

I went ahead and successfully completed and submitted my application.

The bank was supposed to have processed my credit card application in 2 business days, however, I never heard back from them until today i.e May 30, 2024. So, I decided to follow up on their customer care number 18602676789 and their email cardcareindia@dbs.com. The customer care number was absolutely useless, they were even unable to track that I had applied for the card, I received no response from their email even after 3 business days of their TAT as per their automated email response.

To my surprise, when I eventually managed to check the status of my application online, which is peculiarly ONLY possible on the Firefox browser, I found out that they had rejected my application stating my application did not meet their eligibility criteria...

Surprise, surprise... Their Pre-Approved offer is a lie and the pretext with which they collected my data for the credit card processing is bogus...

I've now escalated this to their nodal officer and their superiors as indicated in their Grievance Redressal Document, but I'm not hopeful the issue will be favorably resolved to my liking.

My demand is simple, issue me my Pre-Approved card or I shall expose your lie and nefarious activities to the banking ombudsman through RBI and further legal action if necessary if RBI also does not favorably resolve the problem.

Proofs of my Pre-Approved Credit Card Offer Email, my application status check and my email correspondence to their email is attached for your reference to the thread.

The purpose of this poll, is first to expose their lie and second is to understand if any one else has had the same experience with DBS Bank and for me to collect enough cases and make it a PIL in court should it come to that.

Pre approved doesn’t mean that its actually pre approved & u get the card .. Bank can reject if there is any discrepancy bank system checking ur Bureau score via their internal server & offered you preapproved... you have applied but when verify by bank stuff they can reject your application this method follows all bank... U can ask bank whats the reason they may have disclose you proper reason fr declined

No sir, I disagree. Pre-Approved offers are only given to customers already holding a relationship with the Bank. Pre-Approved means you will definitely get the card. I understand there is a difference between Pre-Approved and Pre-Eligible. When it is Pre-Eligible, I agree the bank can either approve or reject the card.

But luring customers with Pre-Approved offers and then silently rejecting them without reason or intimation is pure evil...

I would like to provide an update, the Bank contacted me and asked me to re-apply for the card again using the same offer link received on my previous email as my previous application got rejected due to a technical issue.

Lo and behold, I applied again and my Credit Card got instantly approved.

@cliffordanup I’m sure you know nobody is owed anything until they are. You can get the bank to issue you a card by getting RBI to tickle the bank’s O-spot, but the bank may and can still close your card or simply reduce your limit to a level that makes it unusable for you, and you will not be able to fight that reduction of limit.

Point I’m making is, this is just a credit card offer, it is not a pre-approved offer for eternal life, the rejection of which has got you so riled up that you’re taking so much of your time to come to a forum and even talking about PILs. Unless, of course, you’re a lawyer and picking up fights is your day job.

Maybe you didn't see my comment about eventually getting my credit card which was pre-approved.

So, yes, I was given what was owed to me.

Or atleast that is what I can understand is a pre-approved offer.

As for what can happen in the future, I do not want to comment any further.

Got offer for DBS Spark 5 LTF in tier 2 city, received call from Delhi Branch, waited for 7 days to get official bank invite but didn't get any, so decided to try link share by bank employee, it was only dbs bank same landing page but this time after entering debit card details it went further and 4 steps application only, and got instant approval, no vkyc no documents asked, got card in 3 days, but agent came for home verification after delivery and activation of card. Overall a good experience got only 10000 mab digisave a/c that too from 7-8 months with very less transaction.

How has been the experience of DBS Spark card so far? I believe there are 3 variants - Spark 5, 10, and 20?
What are the joining / annual fees? Also, did you upgrade to Vantage?

I was offered Spark 5 LTF, which offers same offers if available anywhere, bogo movie but provide less reward points compared to other two 10 & 20 but considering max rewards return and my expenses Spark 5 suits me more,no i am having normal digital account as Vantage is invite only for their HNI Vantage scheme.
