Dealer charging 1.5% on bike purchase

I have decided to buy Himalayan 450 costing around 4.1L on road in Bangalore which includes tubeless wheels as well.

However Dealer is asking for 2% and not budging for full waiver off. What can be done ? Any RBI guidelines on this ? I even asked for GST invoice for that extra 2% he said no that won't be in invoice.

I will try other showrooms today and see, Anybody in Bangalore was able to purchase bike with 0% MDR fees ?

RBI guidelines? What kind of work do you expect RBI do?

Dealers don't care who you are or what you use, what matters are your negotiation skills, which seem to have fallen short.

If you really want to use CC, then look for other showrooms in your area or different city, rest is explained above.

Rbi guideline is clear- mdr has to be borne by merchant.
But card isn't a legal currency. So you can't force him to accept it.

You can do following -
1. Complain to the bank whose pos he uses. In some cases they block the machine. But they need evidence to act.
2. Complain in consumer forum that merchant passed on mdr to you. You'd like a reimbursement.

Know that in both cases , you burn the bridge. So if you plan to avail future services from that dealer( maintenance, part, referral, bike upgrade) , this is not advisable.

Many dealer accept cc payment at 0 mdr. Especially premier brands. Dealers with high value/volume transactions are more rigid. But there is a chance their banks arenot even charging 2% mdr on cc. E.g yes, idfc etc

Hey guys,
Recently I also wanted to purchase a two wheeler by Credit Card. At first the dealer said they will charge 1.75% for credit card. Then after some negotiation the guy called some guy from the pinelabs maybe and then said that for Rupay credit card there will be no charge. So will be using Rupay card for the purchase. Hopefully will not be charged for this.

Also kindly let me which card will give me more value - I have TATA NEU Rupay - 1 L limit and ICICI coral rupay 2.3 limit. the purchase will cost me around 2.5 L . Which will be the best combination.

See if payment can be done in 3 transactions on 3 diff days. Then can use the rupay card otherwise use coral or apply for Kiwi.

Yes, I was also thinking the same at first. But HDFC will not let me do that.

Now I am thinking 2L from my coral and the rest by the TATA NEU.

Wrong amount charged by dealer, attaching invoice of bike along
does this method work...do you know anyone who has got the mdr amount back as a result of filing for chargeback in this manner....also wont you burn the bridge with the dealer....since the bank will recover the chargeback aount from the dealer only?

Relationship with dealer is your outlook, however this method will work if you don't wish to pay MDR
It is not getting back MDR, you are getting back wrongly swiped amount against the invoice provided

dealer will not give bill for mdr. he will just increase the price or reduce the discount. if u insist on 0 mdr den be prepared for 0 discount. he will not charge u more than price n tax on pos machine. Those who have pos machines r intelligent enough.
