Hi All,

I am not sure on where to use Diners club BLACK credit card even after Axis Magnus post 1L milestone.
Note: I am comparing transferring of reward points to Krisflyer miles.
  • Better base reward of Axis Magnus
Axis Magnus gives a better rate even after 5:4 conversion, i.e., 4.8% whereas Diners Club gives a base reward of 3.33% (considering 1:1) only.

  • Better rewards multiplier with Axis Magnus
    • IGP: Magnus has 20x (10K limit) where as Diners has 10x (2.5K limit/day)
    • Flights (their own platform): Magnus provides 5x (4.8 x 5 = 24% no limit) where as Diners provide (3.33 x 5 = 16.65 with a limit of 2.5K/day)
    • Hotels: Magnus provides 10x (4.8 x 10 = 48% no limit) in MMT using GYFTR voucher whereas Diners provide (3.33 x 10 = 33% with a limit of 2.5K/day)
    • IRCTC/train booking: Magnus will provide a base reward of 4.8% only whereas Diners provide (3.33 x 3 = 10% with a limit of 2.5K/day)
    • Redbus: Magnus will provide a base reward of 4.8% only whereas Diners will provide (3.33 x 5 = 16.65% with a limit of 2.5K/day)
    • Instant Voucher: Most of the vouchers are available in both and Magnus provides minimum 3x so minimum 4.8 x 3 (no limit) = 14.4% where as vouchers in Diners go for 3.33 x 3 = 10% (limited to 2500/day)
    • Apple products: Magnus provides 5x minimum in all retail marketplaces, i.e., 4.8x5 = 24% (no limit) whereas Diners will give 3.33 x 3 = 10% (limited to 2500/day)
    • Flipkart: Magnus provides 5x GYFTR voucher (no limit) whereas Diners provides 2x, i.e., 3.33x2 = 6.66% (limited to 2500/day)
  • Dining spends during weekends
Magnus offers 1K discount using eazydiner whereas Diners club provides 2x on weekends.
so, it can be concluded like: If paying online via eazydiner or on weekdays, use Magnus, else EazyDiner.
So baring IRCTC(train), redbus booking and weekend offline dining swipe - I don't find anywhere else where I can use Dinerz Club and finding it difficult to reach 5L yearly annual fee waiver limit.
  • Should I keep Diners paying the annual fee?
  • If no, should I downgrade or do what ?
