Do you burn miles on exotic hotels or normal ones?

Yes I do agree with what you have stated.
But on the other hand, a harsh reality is that there are no unlimited topics in tricks and hacks to discuss frequently upon, maybe these kind of posts can act as a refreshment or just a booster in group participation.

It does happens that sometimes, there is no activity in the group due to lack of new posts, so at that time, posts like these can help.
Just my few cents, others may share their opinion also, accordingly we might follow on in future!

I agree.

I think it’s good to have some leeway. To some extent this post is relevant mostly to premium and super premium cards and not all cards.
And like the original poster; I (or someone else) may also some time in the future want to seek only the inputs of premium and super premium cardholders and not everyone, as they would be better suited to understand my situation and give opinions rather than ordinary cardholders. Plus I have seen that people in this group give genuine and accurate information rather than speculations.
I feel everyone including the mods appreciate everyone’s inputs so this is my opinion.

I have been doing Taj holidays till now by using Amex Platinum travel vouchers! Spend based offers by Amex also helped couple of times. Hopefully that will continue if Amex does not devalue the card. Have been to almost all Taj resorts outside city in south region. Will I go there without any voucher? May be Yes, but with less frequency

As for Magnus, I have not been able to redeem the points till now.... mostly due to hotel availability in south India.

But yes, these card based benefits do spoil you to some extent and you end up spending a little more on your vacations and also do little more vacations. I also think that today it is Magnus, tomorrow there will be something else. 2016-2018 era was for DCB, 2022 - 202x era is for Magnus. Hopefully something or the other will keep coming post Magnus also

In this case, only the members of this group will be benefitted from such info/experiences shared in this thread, which will be unfair to the 99% other members of this community (whether Super Premium or not) who contribute for everyone's benefit in the main forum regardless of their status.

I spend good amount of money on hotels every year but only for special occasions. Never thought of it that way.

Your post provided me with a new perspective to consider. Good post!!

Thanks

My perception is something different
I enjoyed ITC properties like gardenia and Maratha with super luxury by Magnus card
Amex gave way to Marriott Bonvoy stays with all together a classy experience
But i motivated myself by thinking that in a couple of years I should earn more and spend cash to enjoy all these luxuries without card points
Recently a guy tweeted this as well like “why luxury call taxis if u can buy a bmw if focused on main job” it’s somewhat true 👍

It is not exotic hotels OR normal ones, but it can be exotic hotels AT normal ones. There were tons of options globally, and in India, to get extract great value, you only need to keep your eyes open.

In the past, we have used Umaid-Bhawan-palace, Falaknuma , etc.for five days by spending only 20-30% of the actual price, thanks to the combination of multiple deals.
( Taj was offering 50% discount+ paying via Amex 24k points redemption + upgrades using upgrade voucher with citi)
Same story for major Europe, Japan , USA cities with Hilton + Marriot and a combination of a few cards.

Things have changed post covid, still, you can spot some good deals once in six months.
