Dear All,

I am currently holding an HDFC card with 4.22 lakhs limit whereas SBI card with only 98k limit. Will SBI provide an increase in limits if I state the higher limit in the other card.

I am about to make a big purchase and wanted to use sbi card for it. That’s why I wanted to know. Thank you 👍
Even I have to purchase an iPad with student discount. SBI CB gives 5% on the Apple website, but my CC limit is just 27K. Earlier, I used to add excess credit to my card and could easily transact for large amounts. Now they don't allow you to add even 1 rupee more to the card than the CC limit.

My limit was reduced last year from 2.5L to 27K. They are not ready to increase the limit based on salary clips or ITR as well.

apahiz karke chord diya h SBI walo ne!!

why did they reduce your limit so drastically??

I am not sure. I never abused the card or skipped payments. I'm guessing it happened since I transferred the limit from my Simplyclick to Cashback card. They are hell bent on not increasing my CC limit.

My Simplyclick card is LTF, and the Cashback card is free for another two years. Will finally close the CB card once it is devalued to cents.

There is algorithm at work which no one has idea about.
Yesterday i logged into sbi cards website. I applied for credit increase. They asked about gross salary, as i put my gross salary in it and clicked on next, my new limit was shown around 2,95,000. In next step it asked me to upload last 2 salary slips.
Then i uploaded and submitted my request.
Today morning itself i got declined message from SBI Cards.
So yes by default what other banks follow around minimum of around 2-3 times of salary in hand is the norm. But SBI cards is altogether is following different formula. They are not even giving same card limit as your in hand salary.

Ask the bank why. Then ask them to restore it. Else, no point keeping the card with that low limit, just close it and apply with another bank. You’ll get better.

I asked. They never gave me a proper reason and asked me to close it, if i wanted.

I'm using Infinia for 99% of my spends. There are places where SBI CB gives more returns compared to any other card that too with monthly 5K cashback. It's an excellent card.

SBI gave me 7 times my in-hand income.

Point is, every bank has their own profile assessment and we continue wasting time in conjecture.

But you’re not able to use it, and you can do nothing about it if they’ve deemed they won’t increase your limit.

It comes in handy when Infinia Smartbuy quota is exhausted or places like park+, where I can buy fuel for a discount. 😁

Anyways it's free for me for the next 2 years. By that time they'll probably downgrade this card to uselessness and I'll be fine closing it for the good.

I am having 3 L plus salary & 45 L ITR, they are not increasing limit.

I have SimplyClick with 4 L & Vistara with 3 L limit.

Sent documents to their gurgaon office, uploaded in website, wrote email to nodal.

Now I have given up on them. My total cards credit limit is below 75 L. Not even twice of my ITR. And I am being state government officer having salary in SBI bank, although their card business is different entity, they can easily get all information.
