In the app, there is option for credit refund. It asks your existing bank account details for refund.

Submit credit refund request in the sbi card app. You need to enter bank account to receive the amount

My bad. For getting back excess balance refund just add your bank account through Citibank online banking. And request balance refund. I have done this as well with Citibank, very smooth.

On left hand side of Citibank online login, there's an option for credit balance refund. Click it and after that it is self explanatory.

AMEX was smooth too. Just message customer care. They'll ask for bank details and initiate the transfer. If amount is more than 50k, they ask for bank statement through which the transaction was made.
