another CIC moving behind paywall, sadHi guys! Just like every day, I sat down to check my CIBIL and Experian credit reports. But today, I was in for a surprise! Experian has discontinued its free daily credit report download feature. Now, if you want to check and download your report, you must subscribe to their premium plan—similar to CIBIL.
Since this is a major change, I decided to explore the new Experian premium plan in detail. In this article, I'll provide you with full details about Experian’s new policy and premium subscription so you can decide whether it’s worth subscribing to.
Experian’s New Premium Plan – What’s Included?
Experian has introduced only one premium plan for now, priced at ₹499 (including GST). This is significantly cheaper than CIBIL’s premium subscription, which makes it an interesting option for those who frequently monitor their credit reports. However, the validity of this plan is not explicitly mentioned anywhere, which led me to purchase it myself to find out more.
After purchasing the plan, I confirmed that it is valid for one full year. The premium subscription offers several features, similar to CIBIL’s paid service:
Key Features of Experian’s Premium Plan
- Detailed Credit Report & Score Tracking
- Get access to your updated Experian credit report and score at regular intervals.
- Credit Monitoring & Alerts
- Receive real-time alerts whenever there’s a change in your credit report, such as new loan applications or inquiries.
- Fraud Protection & Security
- Experian notifies you of any suspicious activity, helping you stay protected against identity theft and credit fraud.
- Personalized Credit Insights
- Get customized recommendations on how to improve your credit score and qualify for better financial products.
- Exclusive Offers & Pre-Approved Loans
- Premium users may receive exclusive deals and pre-approved loan offers based on their creditworthiness.
Is Experian’s Premium Plan Worth It?
If you were relying on Experian’s free daily report feature, this change might be frustrating. However, the premium plan is useful for those who want to stay updated on their credit health regularly—like me.
One of the biggest reasons to consider this plan (just like with CIBIL) is that you cannot raise a dispute on your credit report unless you have a paid subscription. If you ever need to correct an error in your credit report, you’ll have to buy the plan first. So, having a premium subscription ensures that you can dispute inaccuracies whenever required.
Alternative Ways to Check Your Experian Report for Free
If you don’t want to buy the plan, you still have some options. Several apps and websites allow you to check your Experian credit report once a month for free. However, these services only provide basic report details and credit scores. You won’t be able to download detailed reports or raise disputes through them.
Final Opinion & Conclusion
Experian’s new policy means that free daily access to reports is no longer available, and users must purchase the premium plan to continue monitoring their credit reports. While the ₹499 plan is reasonably priced (especially compared to CIBIL), it may not be necessary for everyone. If you check your credit report occasionally, free alternatives should be sufficient. However, if you actively monitor your credit profile or may need to raise disputes, subscribing to the premium plan is a good idea.

I hadn’t seen your post earlier, but you have explained it very well there. Great work! However, there are some differences between your post and mine. My post specifically focuses on Experian.Good write up.... well done.. 👏
I wrote something similar about 1.5 years ago , valid at that time -- this is for those who are unaware of it.. I had covered three bureuas except for CIBIL as I seperately covered CIBIL in a seperate thread..
I am not sure if something had changed since then as I am not spending much time lately analysing all these bureaus..
Here it is:
My Credit Bureau Experience Journey - Part 1
Experian
Disclaimer: This is just my experience , not a comprehensive review of their products and/or services..... YMMV
Annual fee of ₹499 (including GST) --- My opinion utter waste of money. Your subscription money is down in the drain.
Free report is as good as paid except that we get "Premium plan subscriber' badge , in which there is nothing premium in there.
Non functional score simulator ( no matter whatever the input is, output is always +8 score),
No option to refresh (No link or no push button).God knows whether...

It’s good that you posted the latest info..nothing wrong in opening a new thread with more focus on individual bureau..good job.. keep it goingI hadn’t seen your post earlier, but you have explained it very well there. Great work! However, there are some differences between your post and mine. My post specifically focuses on Experian.
Previously, premium plans existed, but subscribing to them was not mandatory. Users could download their credit reports and view detailed information without a subscription. However, Experian has now made it compulsory to subscribe in order to refresh or download reports.
Additionally, there have been several recent changes in Experian, which is why I felt the need to publish a new post.
1000 % true..the support by experian is horrible ngl.
I think you can check via WhatsApp for freeBut today, I was in for a surprise! Experian has discontinued its free daily credit report download feature.
They Updated my credit limit for yes bank as ₹215 which was my first bill, while my actual limit is 85k 🥹🥹Lol these guys didn't update my closed loan after 100 days of dispute, after rbi complaint they closed it in their report and didn't give Rs100/day compensation as well. the support by experian is horrible ngl.
Right now, you are allowed to get one free credit report in a year from the official website. After that, if you want to check your report again, you have to buy a subscription from the credit bureau. Some popular apps like CRED, PhonePe, Google Pay, and OneScore do give you access to an Experian credit report, but what they show is only a summary. You don’t get the complete and detailed version of your report there.I think you can check via WhatsApp for free
Credit report will be mailed to your mail id
For simulation I heard cred and goggle pay are giving this option so better check that threads
Just file a formal complaint with Experian, and your problem will probably be fixed within a week. They Updated my credit limit for yes bank as ₹215 which was my first bill, while my actual limit is 85k 🥹🥹
We get detailed information in mail every time the Experian is fetched be it via whatsapp or anyother 3rd party appsSome popular apps like CRED, PhonePe, Google Pay, and OneScore do give you access to an Experian credit report, but what they show is only a summary.
I am unable to confirm this because I am already a paid user. Regardless of whether I check through WhatsApp or the official website, I have unlimited access on a daily basis. However, I would like to know from you, can you access a detailed report via WhatsApp on a daily basis. If yes, kindly inform everyone here. Thank you for sharing this information. We get detailed information in mail every time the Experian is fetched be it via whatsapp or anyother 3rd party apps
Why don't you check with free tier from their WhatsApp Messenger Experian official business account ( 9920035444 )
