Fi Money Credit Freeze / Non compliance with account closure

Hey guys,

Last month my Fi savings account was credit frozen out of the blue, while I asked the bank about it they said there was some police complaint against me, which I have to solve, after checking the forums here, I understood that was BS, so I threatened to close the account, immediately they said there was no complaint upon checking, that they need documents from me to lift the credit freeze, but I had to keep haggling behind them for 10 days just to get this response from them, so I had enough and asked them to close the account, but it’s been like 30 days since then, they are still not closing the account, I have a FD stuck with them, or I could just leave the account dormant, they aren’t closing the fd citing the credit freeze, customer service is just the worst, no use whatsoever, I emailed to the grievance cell, nodal officer and escalations, only escalations responded 7 days Later and said they’re working on the closure request, and then disappeared for another 7 days.

I saw quite a few threads where people faced the same, but some of them ended up conversing purely in Hindi, which I do not understand, some other threads left it open without confirming what happened after, someone kindly help me out here, what exactly should I do to get this solved ASAP? Thanks.

Fi is Federal Bank. Go to one of their branch and talk to a branch manager. If they are not helping, write to Federal Bank Nodal officer and then register complaint with RBI Ombudsman.

I didn’t go to a branch but tried everything else, and nothing seemed to work, not even the RBI thing, anyway they finally have closed the account, they sure took forever! The problem was with FI and not federal, I hold a Jupiter Federal account as well and there was no issue there, Fi clearly has been doing this to a lot of people, especially whatever was with the police complaint thing, after closing the account they were even surprised I got any letter about a complaint, some weirdos. Anyway, Finally the headache is over.

Bottomline, if anyone else is facing this issue, just keep pushing them and brace yourselves for a couple of months, they sure take their sweet time but it gets done.
