Flipkart VIP price going up from ₹499 to ₹799, wef 02/04/2025

I recently purchased (just to try out) a Rs 249/- GV by paying 247/- on FK-Axis card + 2 supercoins. I earned 2 points on the CC. I am a VIP member.

So the discount I got was just 0.80% due to the supercoins and 0.81% on the CC (so actually even less than the 1% I had reported). I don't have the SBI CB card.

whats the mcc for gift card purchasing ? is it different for vip members?

I didn't know this existed even though i use flipkart. 😂

Recently I found flipkart sponsoring some product with 100% super coin back, so if you a VIP member u can use max benefit of that. These 100% sc back offer generally come with sale, in this sale I purchased product of 1500+, total 5 products , ( just for received 100% sc coin for 1 product till now, I think fk will provide rest of sc after return period of those products )

Such offers were not there when I purchased the GV. In my experience with Flipkart, it's almost guaranteed to be not there when I want to purchase again. Their supercoins offers/ rules/ validity etc. keep changing so frequently (they have now removed supercoins usability while paying bills/ recharge) that it is not worth my while to keep track of them for a piddly few rupees of benefit.

As I've already reported, the value of the Flipkart Grocery (and so, of Flipkart itself) has reduced drastically for me since they had removed dairy products and the like for my town. Add to that the diminishing price advantage, and I see no reason to renew my VIP membership once it expires, since I foresee only occasional purchases from them in future, if that.

This is not true in general. You should have mentioned the prerequisite of having the SBI CB CC. Plus 5% benefit from supercoins is not guaranteed, -- I got only 0.8%, as reported above.

SBI CB gives 5% cashback on most online purchases, so it may work. But I doubt Swiggy or Millennia would give 5%, -- because they promise 5% on Flipkart purchases, but Gift Cards are an Woohoo purchase, -- the reason my FK-Axis gives only upto 1%, and not 5%.

Buying 2000 worth of gift voucher and lock in your money to save every 100 supercoins makes little sense to me.

Reducing supercoins validity to 6 month and then to 1 month and increasing the price of VIP membership by 60 percent makes Flipkart VIP membership unattractive.

dont make assumtion, do a 100 rs transaction ,call customer care and know the mcc. Also in idfc credit card u can see mcc in their app itself
