Free lenskart gold membership for almost all visa card holders (credit+debit)

Not really.

70% off sale is way better.
BOGO can be used for sunglasses. And if you don’t like something from the sale range.

But being a regular customer, I’ve never seen a better offer than 70% off sales.
+1. The BOGO is a strategy they use to give you a false pretext of saving money. In reality, they just over-inflate the price. Having a membership will also cause you to make more purchases than required. This way, you end up buying two glasses instead of one, thereby increasing their average order values. That said, their service and quality are better than your average store. They often have 60% and 70% sales, so use that as an opportunity to make your purchases.

That's the real issue lol. Only cheap quality products are there which they can sell for 70% discount. High quality products generally don't give this much margin. That's why those are not available at Lenskart.
Not True.
See they broadly have 2 brands - John Jacobs and Vincent Chase. Both are owned by them. I'm not talking about fossil and other 3rd party brands.

Now, If you talk about John Jacobs, It does have better designs and is way costlier. But sometimes john jacobs also comes in sale.
Talking about Vincent Chase, it doesn't matter whether you buy from 60% section or BOGO, The quality is exact same. I've purchase more than 8 items from them.

And, saying that sale items are lower quality is absolutely wrong.
I visit their store often to try before i buy. Many of the frames available at MRP in-store are at 60% discount online.

Also, Lenskart's quality is far better than local stores.. both lens and frame with not a huge price gap.
Bluecut are costlier at lenskart.. but antiglare and progressive cost less than what you'd get offline.

I'm not comparing it with local brands. It would obviously be slightly better than local products. I was searching for Crizal Lens & Carrera frame, Nothing was there. All fancy items.

Like we have Nykaa for genuine 3rd party cosmetic products, there should be one for opticals as well. Lenskart isn't fulfilling that need.

Got it.
3rd Party margins are lower and they have to depend on the supply chain as well.
For better profits and control over supply chain they'd be using white labeling most likely.

But i do get your point, having a section for trusted popular brands would have been good.

Thanks to @Walter White, I could use one of his promo codes to buy my 2nd gold membership. I bought one recently using a voucher I got from Paytm. Turns out that they don't display the membership dates on the website (at least I couldn't figure out) but I have two in place, confirmed support. The latest one gets activated immediately and the other membership takes effect once this one expires, I was told.

Interestingly, on the mobile website, it showed my membership validity as 365+ days.
