Hi
Everybody knows that SBI cashback credit card provides 5% cashback on all online spends with the exception of some exclusions. But do you know there are places where you can earn 5% CB on offline spends using SBI cashback credit card?
Here's how
There are two methods.
i. Paytm Pos method
ii. BharatQT method
Paytm Pos method:
Requirements
A. Paytm Pos device
B. SBI cashback card
C. Non excluded category of merchant
Steps to do
Step 1 - Complete your purchase in a store with Paytm pos device
Step 2 - After entering the amount and click on collect, you'll be able to see an option to "pay by link" in the bottom right corner of the screen, next to "UPI"
Step 3 - Fillup the description (you can write anything in it, should contain minimum of 3 letters) and click on "Create payment link"
Step 4 - Click on SMS/Email according to your convenience
Step 5 - Enter your mobile number/email id and click on "share link"
Step 6 - Click on the link received, enter your SBI CB card details in the paytm payment gateway that opens and complete txn using OTP
Step 7 - The pos doesn't automatically show that payment was successful. You have to manually go back to the home page and click on previous txns to confirm your payment to the merchant
Step 8 - Enjoy 5% CB on your offline
spend once the txn settles
Points to note
1. Merchants will be anxious and reluctant to try out a payment method they probably haven't used it before. It's upto you to convince them to attempt this.
2. I've personally attempted this in 6 pos devices (1 hospital, 3 pharmacies, 1 fancy store and 1 supermarket) in different places, was easily successful in 4 devices. In the other 2 devices(supermarket and fancy store), the error i got was "invalid merchant id" and link was not generated. You have to try and see if it works in the place you want to use it.
3. Since you pay via a payment gateway and pay using OTP, SBI considers it an online payment method and gives 5% CB. By the same logic, any card providing more CB online than offline (Eg. Yes Reserv + 3x subscription) should also work (not personally verified as I only have SBI CB in this category)
