Gift card purchase through phonepe app

I have sbi simply click credit card which offer 5x reward point on online spends including gift card purchase except govt realated transaction recently i have purchased firstcry e gc from phonepe app but sbi card is denying accruals of reward points. They are saying that this particular transaction is govt related transactions

It's a known issue. Phonepe has govt mcc for some payment gateway while buying gc.

Gc is provided by quickcilver which is a private entity so how can it include in govt related transaction

There is no clear direction. You can get any MCC you want. Sometime it backfires and sometime gives undue advantage.

I don't think so. Merchants don't come under rbi. May b try consumer court.

Definitely not, it's a known issue for phonepe. You can try complaining to phonepe, but honestly they don't care.
