Hey everyone,
I need serious advice.
The Detailed Timeline:
Sept 29: Received HDFC Tata Neu Plus card.
Nov 1: First statement generated. Total Due: ₹10,527. Due Date: Nov 21.
Nov 2: I requested to change my statement date to the 18th of the month. Approved.
Nov 18: A new statement is generated for ₹20,587 (includes the ₹10,527 from the previous statement as I had not paid it yet).
The Glitch: This new statement included two Finance Charges (Interest) of ₹392.99 and ₹289.32.
The Issue: My original due date (Nov 21) hadn't even passed yet! I cleared the dues on Nov 20th. They essentially charged me late fees/interest on a balance that wasn't even overdue.
The "Resolution":
I complained to the grievance redressal team via email . They replied today stating they have reversed ₹392.99 as a "Service Gesture."
My Problem:
Partial Refund: They completely ignored the second charge of ₹289.32.
Attitude: They refuse to admit it was a system error, calling it a "gesture."
The Real Fear (CIBIL Alert):
To make matters worse, I just received an SMS from CIBIL stating that my credit report has changed/updated.
I am 99% sure HDFC’s system marked this "glitch" as a Late Payment or Non Payment, which tanks my score. This is my biggest worry now, it’s not just about the ₹200 odd rupees anymore.
The Question:
I am debating two options:
Option A: Email and explain the math again, demand the remaining ₹289, and ask them to fix the CIBIL reporting.
Risk: I feel like I'm wasting time explaining basic math, and they might take weeks to fix the CIBIL issue while my score suffers.
Option B: Direct Escalation to RBI Ombudsman
Since they technically gave a "partial rejection" (by not refunding the full amount and calling it a gesture), can I move straight to the Ombudsman?
I want to demand:
The remaining refund.
Immediate removal of the CIBIL hit.
Compensation for the CIBIL damage and mental harassment.
I need serious advice.
