HDFC FD Limit Increase and Upgrade Timeline

Was holding MB+ with 56K limit for 8 months. Spends on MB+ is 2.5L in last 8 months. No income student. Also holding UPI floater, Neu Plus and Swiggy.

Dec 2
  • Sent email to HDFC requesting a credit card upgrade to Millennia and a credit limit increase.
  • Received reply: Request for Millennia card and credit limit increase could not be accommodated. Limit reviews are conducted every six months based on card usage and payment patterns.
  • Replied: Escalated and highlighted consistent usage of the MoneyBack Plus card and spending exceeding the threshold for the annual fee waiver. Emphasized the benefits of shifting spending to the Millennia card.

  • Received reply: Card upgrade request to Millennia denied as it did not meet the bank's internal criteria.

  • Bank updated: Millennia card upgrade available with pricing details (First Year Free, Renewal Fee: ₹1000+ GST with waiver on ₹1L annual spend). Requested confirmation for pricing, product features, and consent for CIBIL check. Required latest income proof for review.
  • Sent confirmation and provided requested details except income proof (not available as a student).
  • Also asked for upgrade from Neu Plus to Infinity but was denied.

  • Got the physical card.

What amount of FD you had done and what % of FD do they gave limit increase?
 
Millenia was given lifetime free till 16 Jan. So you could have applied that directly, only disadvantage will be the limit they would have asked to split the existing limit They are approving additional card for existing user very easily.

But I don't believe that there is no cibil enquiry this could only happen if your existing card is closed. Or else cibil enquiry is bound to happen.

I may be wrong also if you want to increase limit, they doubled my limit after 4 years.
