If they give that feature, their income will be reduced, already they are getting low profits from account maintainance, why they will giving that of benefit for you while making lose.
You get high interest + no maintainance charges, while hdfc will get 0
There will be zero charges for non maintainance of account.
Until downgrade of account.
They have the option to make a min amount of FD as per acc variant instead of maintaining. Check soc for your acc for specific amount.

Basic accounts also have this option. I got this reply from the bank.
You need to maintain Rs. 10,000/- as Average Monthly Balance (AMB) or Fixed Deposit of Rs. 1,00,000/- in your mentioned savings account for minimum 1 year 1 day period to avoid non-maintenance charge.
There is option, for regular savings acc it is 1L FD

I visited another branch. They agreed to put a lien. Now I have two queries.
1) If they put a lien, is that amount considered MAB?
2) They are asking to write a letter with some reason. They won't accept if I say to keep it as MAB. What reason do I need to mention it?

It's serviceable, I visited the branch and they told me to transfer it to my home town. Earlier, it was a metro city. I think It's better to transfer and do an FD of 25K. Luckily my PIN is their serviceable area. so its possible to tranfer.
