HDFC Moneyback Credit Card disabled by them

Hi All,
I applied for a credit card with HDFC from branch and they approved it with 75k limit but upon arrival I was unable to enable it or do any transaction, I visited branch they had also no ideas what's the issue. After I tweeted got a call back from them and they told since my father had defaulted on his credit card payments with them that's why their back end team disband my credit card after receiving? What can be done in this case, I have good cibil 780+ and never defaulted on any payment and no link to my father. How to get credit from HDFC now.
The card still shows in my account but shows available limit 0

you already know why they have disabled it, call cs of hdfc and ask how can i resolve this, and if your father default, he must have paid them bank with interest.

No, he didn't paid back. But I should be treated separately right ? They told nothing can be done but how can they block me if my cibil and everything is good. Isn't discrimination

I think in india there is no rule which says next generation need to settle amount 🙂 valid case if you go to RBI you will be even compenstated

Double checked only if you inherit the Property then you need pay the debt
Untill and unless you don't inherit you need not pay .

And Credit card are NOT part of inheritance at any instance

i dont think you have a strong case
ask your dad to settle the dues
because the bank would go to any extent possible to recover their dues

He can check with a lawyer for basic details on the debt part.
But ideally he shouldn't be responsible for father's debts as he wasn't the guarantor/co-applicant.

If the lawyer also agrees, he can file this with PNO and RBI.. no harm in that.

This is how HDFC works.

My Friend's Parents also did not paid Car Loan Last Few EMIs.

Those Bast**ds deducted that Unpaid Amount from my freinds Bank Account when He opend a New HDFC Bank Account.

Upon asking why they deducted, HDFC Employee told that My Freind Name was added as Nominee in Car Loan, hence they Recovered the Amount.

Nope, you won't be treated separately if you have any relationship with HDFC. The backend must have mapped you to your dad's assets and liabilities because your surnames matched, and there might be more connections. I request your dad to settle the payment or dispute if something else needs to be done. This could affect you now in HDFC, and as per CIBIL, you said the limit is zero, so it might keep affecting you until it's resolved

This should not happen. And if happens you have all the legal rights to pursue the matter in court.

That is why he did not oppose the Bank's decision since HDFC was in Win Win situation.


HDFC has eyes of Eagle.

They identify immediate relationships and then recover the Amount.
