HDFC new app does not support non-mobile upi id? any other way to create it freshly?

Last weekend I force moved to new HDFC Mobile app. I found that after enabling UPI in app, I can no longer set my own preferred UPI id. All I see is <mobileno>@hdfc the only UPI ID created by default.
Old app was good, allowed to configure as per our choice UPI ID.
Anyone knows any way to configure custom UPI ID in new hdfc mobile app?
Also, what will happen to old mobile app UPI ID. I paid to that ID and it is still working but with migration to new app, lost the access to manage that UPI ID.

What happens to that old UPI ID? anyone knows? or its upto HDFC to disable it soon irrespective of I keep using it?

Very strange and tricky situation by HDFC.

transfer 1 Rs to old upi id, you will get answer to all the queries

Try mailing them your issue and see
The new app still hasn't been completed and is in development so maybe they might fix it

transferred exactly 1 rs on Saturday and old UPI ID is working. Transferred 2 rs today and its working. But there is no clarity when it will stop right?
I think every bank set some date for totally stopping old app functionality. I don't know hdfc old app such date.

Yeah but you can ask them to migrate old ID to new app which might not be possible when they stop the old one completely

It cannot be transferred...ICICI had @icici upi id available on pockets app (they wanted to make it default upi app of icici bank) and when they launched upi on imobile, they mentioned that my upi id cannot be transferred to imobile...However, my old upi id @icici is still working for inward payment but i cannot use it to make outward payment.
